Two lots of Walmart store brand frozen pasta have been recalled after testing by the Departments of Agriculture in Florida and Washington state found listeria.
New York City’s Gias Foods issued the recall of Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, which went to Walmart stores around the nation. You’ll find lot No. L6079C or L6080C with an expiration date of 09/19/2027 or 09/20/2027 on the back of the 22-ounce packs.
Listeria is not nearly as widespread as salmonella or cyclospora, infecting only about 1,250 people in the United States each year, according to the CDC. But of that number, about 172 die. Pregnant women can suffer stillbirths and miscarriages, as one of the symptoms is high fever, along with symptoms similar to the flu.
If you have recalled fettuccine, return it to the Walmart store of purchase for a refund. If you can’t do that, throw it deep into the garbage, where nosey pets can’t get to it.
