Jaxson Davis, the 2026 Sun-Times Player of the Year, committed to Ohio State on Friday.
Davis transferred from Warren to Monarch Academy in Kansas City, Kansas in June. Monarch plays in the prestigious Nike EYBL Scholastic League.
A three-time All-Area selection, Davis led the Blue Devils to 87 victories in the last three seasons, including a runner-up finish in Class 4A in 2025.
Davis was on the verge of becoming the all-time leading scorer in Lake County history and had an outside chance of achieving a scoring milestone few in state history have reached: 3,000 career points.
Davis, Bolingbrook’s Davion Thompson and Kenwood’s Devin Cleveland took the state by storm as freshmen. All three eventually left for out-of-state prep schools.
Cleveland left for La Lumiere in Indiana after his sophomore season, and Thompson left for Link Academy in Missouri after his sophomore year. Thompson committed to Arkansas over the summer.
