In truly wholesome news, TV star Christina Hendricks recreated her wedding day so her Alzheimer’s-stricken mother could be there.

The Mad Men star, 49, officially married George Bianchini on April 20 in New Orleans, one year after they ‘proposed to each other’.

Alas, her mother was unable to travel for the big day, where their nuptials were officiated by Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson.

So, in the ultimate gesture of love, Christina held a second wedding a week later so Jackie could be involved.

Ensuring her beloved mother didn’t miss out, she even organised for Scottish musician Shirley to return.

Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a series of gorgeous snaps from the day.

Christina looked every inch the radiant bride in a custom Katya Katya lace white dress, completing her elegant ensemble with a red bouquet of flowers.

Other photos included her sharing a sweet kiss and hug with her emotional mother.

Christina wrote in her caption: ‘My mother has Alzheimer’s and was not able to come to New Orleans for our wedding, so we brought the wedding to her yesterday in our backyard.

‘My mother has always been my best friend and there was no way we weren’t going to share our love and celebrate with the biggest supporter and cheerleader in my life.’

She added: ‘When you are living so in the moment, so in the present, it is so important to have beauty and love and happiness around you.

‘This time we had flower girls and dogs and more wonderful friends join us.’

She described the day as ‘perfect’, thanks to Garbage’s ‘Scottish wedding twist’ and the ‘beautiful arrangements’ created by the florist.

‘Who wouldn’t want to wear their wedding dress twice!!!’, she concluded.

Writing in the comments, fans’ hearts melted at the gesture.

‘That is literally the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard someone do for their mom. You’re beautiful inside & out ❤️❤️’, wrote Instagram user ibsens_girl.

‘Me just ugly crying out of so much love. So happy for you both ❤️❤️’, wrote sashagrossman.

‘It was just lovely ……your beautiful mama . ❤️‍🔥’, said the official Garbage page.

Good Girls star Christina married a camera operator who is known for his work on the TV series Peripheral and The Right Stuff.

Posting previously about tying the knot, she wrote: ‘On Saturday April 20, 2024 I married George Bianchini. It was the most beautiful weekend of my life. Thank you to all of our friends and family for joining us.’

The lovebirds exchanged vows at Napoleon House in the French Quarter.

Of her mesmerising gown, featuring a high neck, long sleeves, and an A-line skirt, Christina told people that seeing the dress for the first time made her tear up ‘because it was so beautiful.’

There were 76 guests on the list, including Mad Men creator Matt Weiner, Good Girls co-stars Retta and Mae Whitman, and designer Christian Siriano.

All guests were treated to a sit-down dinner that included steak and shrimp, as well as grits, with muffuletta for a late-night snack.
