Tinseltown officially has a new reigning box office titan, as Scarlett Johansson has soared into the top spot as Hollywood’s highest-grossing actor with the release of “Jurassic World Rebirth.” Entertainment Weekly says the film raked in $318 million worldwide on its July 2, 2025 premiere.
Deadline reported on July 7 that figure had been updated to an even better $322 million. The report says the new film is “the second-biggest opening for a Jurassic movie in the franchise behind 2015âs Jurassic World with $525.5M.”
Scarlett Johansson Beat Out Some Big Names
A July 8, 2025 People report says Johansson surpassed her MCU costar Samuel L. Jackson, who starred alongside her in films such as “The Avengers” and “Iron Man 2,” to clinch the top spot. Jackson was previously ranked on top, with Robert Downey Jr. in second, before the release of “Jurassic World Rebirth” caused a shakeup that knocked Downey into third place.
How Scarlett Johansson ‘Manifested’ Mega Role
In an appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” the mother of two revealed her star turn in “Jurassic World Rebirth” has been a long time coming, and opened up about the technique she believes helped her secure her record-breaking role as Zora Bennett.
“I do believe it now, that the manifestation is a real thing,” she explained, before going in, “I have been trying to infiltrate the “Jurassic” universe for like three decades. She then revealed her secret strategy, declaring, “It turns out that fangirling pays off. It really does.”
The talk show segment then flashed back to 2023, showing a clip of the “Black Widow” actress recalling the “Jurassic Park” pup tent she had as a child. The star said she slept in the tent on the floor of her bedroom for months.
After being congratulated by Fallon for finally achieving her dream of getting into the “Jurassic” world, Johansson joyfully exclaimed, “It’s so great!”
Fans also congratulated the star in the Instagram comments of the video clip. One wrote, “Sooo happy sheâs in it! Loved her character!”
Another declared the new film the best “Jurassic” movie since “The Lost World.”
A third fan said “Jurassic World Rebirth” made them nostalgic, making it feel like their childhood “came roaring back.”
