I’m a Celebrity winner, and YouTube star Angry Ginge has been hit with a wave of abuse after confronting an alleged racist at the World Cup.
Ginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle, was attending the England versus Ghana game at the Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, when the initial incident occurred.
In a video recorded at the stadium, the 24-year-old could be heard telling his fans: ‘We have a situation where the gentleman that is sat there is being racist.
‘I’ve reported it to the steward because, kick it out is the saying, I will stand by that. So he’s going now to get his supervisor, and we’ll see what happens.
‘There’s no way he should ever set foot in a stadium or watch a football game ever again.’
Burtwistle then claimed the stewards told him nothing could be done unless the man repeated his comments.
The man who allegedly made the unknown comments attempted to apologise to Burtwistle, asking if they could forget about the incident, to which he replied ‘no’.
Reportedly the man was then removed from his seat but allowed to watch the game from another part of the stadium.
‘It’s absolutely not good enough from the American stewards, the message before the game, the message is kick it out – if you see it, say it,’ Burtwistle told his viewers.
‘I’ve gone and reported it, he’s not been kicked out of the stadium. We saw him as we left, he’s been allowed to watch the whole game after the things he was saying about the Ghana team.’
However, since posting the video, Burtwistle has shared on his Instagram stories abusive messages he’s received along with the caption: ‘Standing up to racism gets you this? What a world we live in.’
‘You some little goon yall (sic) see who’s racist when the men of England take you out you are no more we see you I (sic) Manchester,’ one read. ‘Let’s see how woke you get when we grab your security ain’t going to do shit cuz they gonna get it to.
‘You little woke t**t soon your (sic) get smashed the f*** in you watch.’
It then went on to claim that ‘illegal alines (sic)’ would sexually abuse ‘women and chidrne (sic)’.
Another meanwhile spouted homophobic abuse.
Despite the backlash, there were also plenty of people delighted that Burtwistle had stood up for what’s right.
@I_amMukhtar wrote on X: ‘I’m a Celeb winner, and YouTuber AngryGinge confronted a racist who was racially abusing Ghanaian players during the England vs Ghana match and tried to get him kicked out. He reported the incident to the stewards, but they did nothing. Big up Ginge.’
‘AngryGinge is such a respected fella,’ added @LEOANDR01ARDA. ‘He’s someone that stands up for what’s right. Racism should be punished and it’s sad Americans don’t take it as seriously as I’d expect them too.’
Metro has approached Angry Ginge and Fifa for comment.
