The “Scary Movie” actress took to social media on Saturday, December 13, to share the tragic news of her friend’s passing.
“I want to share something personal about a family friend, Dr. Amanda Posner. I met her years ago through my brotherâand fun fact, I even hosted her husbandâs bachelor party with 25 dudes at my house!” Anna began in her tribute post, which was shared via Instagram.
She continued, “Amanda was pure magic. A loving mom, a brilliant pediatrician, and the calm, steady voice every new parent hopes to hear. She answered my brother and sister-in-lawâs million baby questions with endless patience and warmth.”
Faris explained that Dr. Posner battled metastatic breast cancer for a decade before her passing at age 43.
“Even while facing so much, she kept showing up for othersâwith gentleness, humor, and this quiet strength that stayed with you,” Faris added.
The beloved actress asked her followers to “help keep Amanda’s kindness and legacy shining,” as her family launches “an endowed professorship in her name at UCSF.”
According to an obituary for Dr. Posner, the pediatrician passed peacefully on Thursday, August 28, in Westport, Connecticut.
âUCSF played an enormous role in our lives. Amanda was training at UCSF when we first met. Itâs where she cared for countless patients as a pediatrician, and where our beloved son Drew came into the world. UCSF is also where Amanda received the medical care that gave us ten more beautiful years together,” Dr. Posner’s husband, Ben Neumann, shared on the donation profile. “Supporting this professorship is a way to ensure that Amandaâs legacy of compassionate care, empathy, and selflessness continues to benefit children and families for generations.”
