Anna Kendrick has a new romance. The “Pitch Perfect” star, 39, is dating Emmy-winning comedian Alex Edelman, 36, a source confirms to People. According to reports, the couple has been together for several months and were recently photographed together in Los Angeles.

Although the couple has stayed out of the spotlight, their relationship is progressing in a meaningful way. “They celebrated his birthday together in March,” the source told People.

“She’s met his mom.” Although Kendrick is known for keeping her romantic life low-key, the source added, “It doesn’t seem casual. Anna’s very private, though. They enjoy date nights at low-key restaurants that aren’t your typical celeb hangouts.”

Anna and Alex have not commented on the status of their relationship yet. Their social media doesn’t hint at their relationship either.

• “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” director Edgar Wright (2009–2013)
• Cinematographer Ben Richardson (2014–2020)
• Actor Bill Hader (2020–2022). She and Hader were first linked in early 2020 and broke up after spending over a year together, according to Entertainment Weekly.

While she’s remained private about current relationships, Kendrick has previously spoken out about surviving a long-term, emotionally abusive partnership.

In a 2024 interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kendrick described a seven-year relationship that caused deep confusion and emotional pain:

“I was in a situation where I loved and trusted this person more than I trusted myself,” she said. “When that person is telling you that you have a distorted sense of reality… your life gets really confusing really quickly.”

Kendrick explained that the abuse didn’t follow a traditional pattern, which made it even harder to recognize.

Kendrick first hinted at this difficult chapter while promoting her 2022 film “Alice, Darling”, which explores psychological abuse in relationships. She told People at the time: “I was coming out of a personal experience with emotional abuse and psychological abuse. Alice’s story really resonated.”

In 2020, while promoting her HBO Max series “Love Life“, Kendrick also reflected on how her past relationships had shaped her. Talking to The Sydney Morning Herald, Anna said: “Even though our relationships end, it doesn’t mean they are complete failures,” she said. “You grow, and they change you… and what you learn from them might be really positive or it might be negative.”

The actress has healed from past heartbreak and now embraces love again — this time on her terms.
