
Alexander Morton has died. The actor was beloved for his role as Golly Mackenzie in the long-running BBC series âMonarch of the Glen,â and his death was announced on Wednesday, April 15. He was 81, The Sun reports.Â

Since the news of Mortonâs death was made public, tributes have been pouring in, including one from Robert Carlyle. Carlyle is beloved for his roles in âTrainspotting,â âThe Full Monty,â and âThe Beach.â
Carlyle posted a black-and-white photo of Morton on his official Instagram page. In the caption, he shared his thoughts. âSo sad to hear of the passing of the great Sandy Morton. Not only a brilliant actor, but one of the kindest men I ever knew,â Carlyle wrote. âWorking with him through the years with Rain Dog Theatre Company was an education. His unique, naturalistic style was a thing of beauty. So real that you would forget he was even acting at all. Iâve never seen anyone do it better than Sandy. He taught me so much.. I owe him so much and he will forever be in my heart. RIP Alexander Morton.âÂ
