Black Mirror fans have dubbed a new episode in the latest series as ‘phenomenal’ and ‘haunting’.
Following the release of the hotly anticipated seventh season of Charlie Brooker’s sci-fi dystopian anthology, fans have been eager to discover what twisted storylines await.
For the first time in Black Mirror history, fans learned that the show is going to reprise several characters from previous seasons.
The first sequel is season four’s USS Callister, which follows a group of employees at virtual reality video game company Infinity.
The second will see Will Poulter reprise his role as 80s video game company worker Colin Ritman from the 2018 interactive Black Mirror movie Bandersnatch.

But the episode on everyone’s lips seems to be Common People, starring Chris O’Dowd and Rashida Jones.

Commenting on X, @Prolificness wrote: ‘Just finished the first episode of the new season of #BlackMirror. Definitely gave me OG Black Mirror vibes and was PHENOMENAL. We might be fucking back.’
@purpminded420 said: ‘Common People ended up being one of the saddest and best episodes of the series #BlackMirror.’
Another user @erwincolcol added: ‘Oh God, where can I even begin? 😭 “Common People” is a return to Black Mirror’s purest form: dark, depressing, with a little bit of humor.
‘It’s like watching an episode from the series’ first seasons. Charlie Brooker really took it to a whole ‘nother “tier” this time. Solid 5/5.’
Meanwhile, @ commented: ‘The first episode of #BlackMirror S7, Common People, is a haunting, depressing watch that will stay with me for some time (and we don’t even have American-style ‘healthcare’). So glad it’s back’
@mighty_gray concluded: ‘The Common People of Black Mirror is actually good. It’s just sooooo ironic that Netflix made it lol.’

Throughout the latest series fans can expect to see a spiralling look at the future of healthcare and a dive into the dangers of AI in Hollywood.
In addition, a workplace where not everything is as it seems, an anguished trip down memory lane and video game horror stories.
Prior to its release, fans of the show highlighted concerns about its increasing ‘Americanization’.
In 2023, Metro wrote how out of the 16 episodes commissioned since the Netflix deal, nine of them have been either set in America or feature a significantly American cast.
But with season 7 around the corner, Charlie Brooker has reassured that it will return to the show’s ‘OG’ style.
Black Mirror is available to watch on Netflix.
