Blake Lively‘s legal team have responded to the latest ruling in her lawsuit against Justin Baldoni. The pair starred in the Colleen Hoover adaptation “It Ends With Us,” which Baldoni also directed. Lively later filed civil rights complaints against production company Wayfarer Studios, concerning harassment and workplace safety. Additionally, Lively claimed Baldoni had hired a team to plant negative and retaliatory stories online, per Variety.
In the latest hearing, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed 10 out of Lively’s 13 claims. Allegations including breach of conduct and retaliation-related claims will still be moving forward to trial.
Blake Lively Will Testify At Trial, Her Team Says
GettyJudge Linman dismissed harrassment claims made by Lively’s team “because the court determined Blake Lively was an independent contractor, not an employee,” said her attorney Sigrid McCawley.
“This case has always been and will remain focused on the devasting retaliation and the extraordinary steps the defendants took to destroy Blake Livelyâs reputation because she stood up for safety on the set and that is the case that is going to trial,” McCawley said in a statement to Us Weekly.
“For Blake Lively, the greatest measure of justice is that the people and the playbook behind these coordinated digital attacks have been exposed and are already being held accountable by other women theyâve targeted. She looks forward to testifying at trial and continuing to shine a light on this vicious form of online retaliation so that it becomes easier to detect and fight.”
Justin Baldoni’s Team Respond: “We’re Very Pleased”
GettyBaldoni’s attorneys Alexandria Shapiro and Jonathan Bach also responded to the ruling, per Variety.
“Weâre very pleased the Court dismissed all sexual harassment claims and every claim brought against the individual defendants,” they said.
“These were very serious allegations, and we are grateful to the court for its careful review of the facts, law and voluminous evidence that was provided. Whatâs left is a significantly narrowed case, and we look forward to presenting our defense to the remaining claims in court.”
The trial will begin on May 18.
Lively: “I’m More Resolved Than Ever”
GettyLively posted an Instagram story after the court dismissed Baldoni’s counter-lawsuit in 2025.
âLike so many others, Iâve felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us. While the suit against me was defeated, so many donât have the resources to fight back,â she wrote.
âIâm more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every womanâs right to have a voice in protecting themselves, including their safety, their integrity, their dignity and their story.â
