Brittany Mahomes/InstagramPatrick may be coming off a season where he threw for the fewest passing yards of his career, but that hasnât stopped him from making a big impact off the field. Through his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation and in partnership with Bold.org, Mahomes has announced a $50,000 scholarship fund for high school seniors in his and Brittany’s hometown of Tyler, Texas.
The three-time Super Bowl champion is offering five students $10,000 each. Seniors who graduated in 2025 can apply by submitting a 300â500-word essay detailing their personal journey, future goals, and any obstacles theyâve overcome.
“Patrick is proud of his East Texas roots, and this scholarship is his way of giving back to the community that raised him,” said a representative for the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.
Founded in 2019, the Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of children by supporting initiatives that prioritize health, wellness, and community engagement.
Shortly after the announcement, Brittany quietly acknowledged the moment by reposting the scholarship details on her Instagram Story, adding the Phillip Phillips song âHome.â
Earlier this year, he made another donation to the Kansas City Libraryâs Summer Reading Program, which helped distribute 6,000 books to kids across the city.
Patrick Mahomes Got Some Disappointing News the Same Day
The scholarship news came the same day as a bit of disappointment for Mahomes on the business side. He had been vocal about wanting to help bring a WNBA team to Kansas City, even joining an investment group to make it happen. But the league recently announced its next expansion citiesâand Kansas City didnât make the cut. Instead, the new teams are heading to Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia.
“Other cities that bid on teams that didnât get them include St. Louis; Kansas City, Mo.; Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tenn.; Houston; Miami; Denver; and Charlotte, N.C,” posted Vanshay Murdock, a videographer and WNBA social media presence.
Still, Mahomes has made strides in the womenâs sports world. He and Brittany are part-owners of the Kansas City Current, the cityâs NWSL team.
Mahomes previously told ESPN that he wanted to work with the same ownership group to help bring a WNBA team to town.
“It was cool that we were able to get this soccer team, this women’s soccer team here in the Current and they’re going into the playoffs now and you see the support that they have,” Mahomes told ESPN in October 2024. “So let’s try to get a WNBA team in here as well [with] that same ownership group. They’ve done the Current the right way, and I want to continue to work with them to take that next step and get a WNBA team here.”
