Adam Peaty’s estrangement from his family doesn’t seem to be on the mend as he and Holly Ramsay prepare to welcome a baby.
Days ago, Holly, 26, daughter of restaurant mogul Gordon Ramsay, and Olympic gold medal swimmer Adam, 31, announced they are expecting.
The couple tied the knot at the end of December last year in a star-studded wedding at Bath Abbey attended by the Beckhams and stars like Sara Davies and Marcus Wareing.
However, drama kicked off surrounding the nuptials as Adam’s family were largely not invited to the big day, with the swimmer now distancing himself from them.
He did text his mum, Caroline, to let her know that he and Holly were expecting a child, but it was apparently a ‘simple formal text’.
‘I am happy for them. News of a new baby is always welcome,’ Caroline said, according to a source who spoke to The Daily Mail.
Caroline reportedly was on holiday when she got a ‘brief and to the point’ message right as Holly posted their news on social media.
Apparently, the rift between Adam and his family is ‘beyond healing’ and the source added: ‘There was no happy gathering, no phone call just a brief mobile message.’
In the post on social media, Holly shared a picture of her and Adam lovingly looking into one another’s eyes with her bump on full display.
She also confirmed they are expecting a daughter, with the caption reading: ‘Baby Ramsay-Peaty coming December 2026. We can’t wait to meet our baby girl.’
Adam also has a five-year-old son from a previous relationship with artist Eirianedd Munro, who he split from in 2022.
The Peaty ‘family feud’ was made public in November when his mum was absent from Holly’s hen do, and later his brother James was arrested over allegations he sent threats to the Olympian during his stag-do in Budapest.
Ahead of their wedding, Adam released a statement addressing the ‘challenging times’ and urged people to remember there were ‘two sides to every story’.
During that time, his mum was vocal about her ‘heartbreak’ after the estrangement.
In May, an insider with the Peaty family claimed to the Daily Mail that he was attempting to ‘cash in’ on the Ramsay family name.
‘He is playing a role. Adam may be rich but we have something that he hasn’t and that is brains, loyalty, integrity and family,’ the source added.
However, the Ramsays have taken the Olympian under their wing, with Gordon going to bat for his new son-in-law.
He told The Sun previously: ‘At the end of the day there was a lot of friction going on before all that and so there was some stuff that they needed to sort it out and so it was sad to see that barrage of negativity that was self-propelled by them.’
Gordon also suggested of the Peatys that ‘when you start enjoying that kind of press attention, and you revel in it, you’re sort of feeding the beast’.
