Charli XCX has declared the end of Brat summer and the beginning of something considerably…hornier.
The 365 singer sent fans into meltdown after posting a sultry new photo of herself sprawled across the grass in a pink bra and a sheer polka-dot skirt, teasing what appears to be the next chapter of her ever-evolving pop career.
Alongside the snap, which sees the 33-year-old posing almost nude against a lush green backdrop, Charli wrote simply: ‘something horny is coming ;)’
The suggestive tease immediately sparked a frenzy among fans, who were quick to embrace what many are already calling the star’s new era.
‘BRAT summer was cute but we’re in our horny era now,’ wrote one, with someone else chiming in, ‘we are horny and ready,’
Another fan declared: ‘I’m obsessed with this aesthetic.’
‘She’s about to break the internet again. And I’m seated 🍿,’ predicted one fan.
The post comes ahead of the release of Charli’s seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, which lands on July 24.
Early glimpses of the project suggest a dramatic departure from the lime-green chaos of Brat, the album that transformed Charli from a critically adored pop innovator into a genuine cultural phenomenon.
Released in 2024, Brat became far more than just an album. It inspired a viral aesthetic, fuelled endless TikTok trends, and helped usher in a revival of 2000s indie sleaze style.
The record debuted at number two in the UK and number three in the US, becoming Charli’s highest-charting album to date.
Its influence quickly spread beyond music. The bright green artwork became instantly recognisable online, while the term ‘brat’ evolved into a lifestyle philosophy centred around messiness, hedonism, honesty and refusing to present a perfectly polished version of yourself.
As Charli herself explained at the height of the phenomenon, a brat is someone who is ‘a little messy and likes to party’ but is also self-aware enough to laugh at their own chaos.
Now, however, it appears Charli may be ready to leave the cigarettes, Bic lighters, and white tank tops behind in favour of something altogether more seductive.
The teasing post arrives just weeks after the singer announced a string of US tour dates in support of Music, Fashion, Film.
Sharing the news earlier this month, Charli wrote on social media: ‘Soooo excited to announce the Music, Fashion, Film Tour!
‘Sign up for presale access now through June 10th at 11pm ET at charlixcx.com/tour. Can’t wait to party together again, it’s gonna be cute xx.’
The US leg consists of 12 dates beginning on September 11 at Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena, with singer-songwriter Underscores joining as support on all shows.
For fans on this side of the Atlantic, there’s good news too.
Responding to questions about a UK tour, Charli reassured followers on Instagram: ‘And, yes UK dates are coming I promise.’
