Rising indie-pop star CMAT has been forced to postpone her upcoming UK tour dates due to an urgent medical issue.

The Dublin-born singer, 29, currently riding high on the success of her acclaimed album Euro-Country, was scheduled to kick off a run of shows in October.

However, she revealed that a painful infected wisdom tooth has left her unable to perform.

In a heartfelt statement shared with fans, CMAT – real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson – explained that she woke up with severe jaw pain, leading to an emergency dental appointment.

Doctors have scheduled surgery to remove both of her lower wisdom teeth next week, followed by a recovery period of at least two weeks.

‘I can’t even open my mouth wide enough to laugh let alone sing,’ she wrote, apologising to fans who had already made plans to attend the shows.

She continued, writing: ‘I also can’t even chew any food for the foreseeable so if anybody can send ice cream and or soup recommendations they would be hugely appreciated !!!’

The message concluded: ‘i am in so much pain right now that i can barely think straight enough to type. all i can do is lie in bed watching The Osbournes and dream about making it up to you all in the very near future.

‘I love to sing so much ::(( rip my back two wisdom teeth you would have loved brixton academy. lots and lots of love, ciara (cmat) x x x xx’

Ticket holders will be able to use their passes for rescheduled dates, with refunds available for those who can’t attend.

While her October shows are on hold, her longer 2025 tour – the biggest of her career so far – remains unaffected at this stage.

The postponement comes during a breakthrough year for CMAT, who earned her second Mercury Prize nomination this year, standing alongside acts such as Fontaines D.C. and Sam Fender.

The awards ceremony is still set to go ahead on October 16th, though it remains unclear whether CMAT will be able to attend in person.
