David Beckham defends Victoria’s bored reaction to England’s World Cup win

We’ve probably all felt a bit like a supremely bored Victoria Beckham at one time or another – but probably not after England scored in the World Cup quarter-final against Norway.

The beauty mogul and former Spice Girl’s unbothered reception of Jude Bellingham’s winning goal is the photo that’s gone halfway around the internet.

Her neighbouring husband Sir David Beckham had the more characteristic, elated response to the goal, which clinched England’s spot in the semi-final this Wednesday.

The former footballer whooped and cheered in the stands with his children Romeo, Cruz and Harper (no Brooklyn Beckham, of course), but Victoria was caught on camera looking entirely disinterested, in stark contrast to everyone else around her.

‘She was celebrating inside I promise,’ Beckham promised, wading into the comments of a post from comedian Jenny Johnson, ribbing his wife as ‘England’s number one fan’ with an ‘infectious smile’.

The former England captain added: ‘Her reactions were slightly slower than mine.’

As ever, the Beckham brood were posting up a storm from their good seats in the Miami stadium.

Notably absent was eldest son Brooklyn, amid their high-profile family feud which he took a pop at during his DoorDash advert ahead of the football tournament

Instead of attending, the 27-year-old simply posted an aerial shot of the Miami pitch to his Instagram Stories, without commentary or further context.

Meanwhile, his former England captain father shared a triumphant family selfie to his Instagram grid, writing: ‘What a moment in Miami, I’m so proud of the team tonight reaching the semi-final of the World Cup and to celebrate with my family was so special…

‘Thank you England for giving our country these moments,’ he added, signing off with a series of emojis.

In the picture, a grinning David fist-pumped the air as he stood with his other arm around the still-poker-faced Victoria. Cruz, Harper and Romeo were all smiles alongside their parents.

It comes after the eldest member of the Beckham offspring stirred the pot with his parents by fronting a very on-the-nose advert in June.

In the food delivery advert’s teaser, Brooklyn smirked to the camera with a stack of World Cup tickets, saying: ‘You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… It’s a long story.’
