If there’s one thing that will make a “Law & Order: SVU” fan light up, it’s any news related to Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson and Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler. Viewers have been clamoring for the coupling of “EO” for more than two decades.
Whenever Meloni appears in an episode of “SVU,” or Hargitay shows up in “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” the frenzy begins. Will this be the episode that the couple finally kiss? While Season 27 of “SVU” doesn’t start until October 1, the presence of Meloni on the set has everyone fired up.
Meloni and Hargitay’s Adorable On-Set Reunion Sparks Excitement for SVU Fans
On August 1, Meloni was spotted filming “SVU” with Hargitay in New York City. “Page Six” posted a video featuring a series of photos. The snapshots show the duo embracing, talking intimately, and being playful together, both on and off camera. The following day, Meloni posted pictures on Instagram, as well.
“Hangin with friends on a Friday nite,” he captioned the series of images. In one, he and Hargitay are cuddling for the camera, while the following two show Hargitay, Meloni, and Dann Florek smiling, and one of just Florek and Meloni.
Florek has played Captain Cragen on “SVU” since it began in 1999. Florek left the show after Season 15. He made an appearance in 2022, but hasn’t been seen since. Proof that he’ll also be in Season 27 made fans even happier.

Fans Rally for Stabler and Benson: Meloni Teases Hope for a Kiss
Seeing “EO” together filming no doubt makes many hopeful, and Christopher Meloni has stoked that fire recently. When a fan wrote on X, “Chris Meloni for [expletive] sake, kiss her already!” Meloni answered just as bluntly.
“I’m [expletive] trying,” he responded.
Hargitay, as well, told “Variety” that the duo wanted Benson and Stabler to kiss during one particular scene, but it didn’t happen.
“Chris and I thought it should go one way and the powers that be didnât, so it got changed at the last minute, that near kiss,â she said. âObviously Dick [Wolf] gets final say. Itâs his show and he didnât want that.â
However, comments Hargitay made during a June appearance on Alex Cooper’s “Call Me Daddy” podcast dashed the hopes of many fans.
“Do you think they’ll ever end up together?” Cooper asked her.
“Maybe on the last episode,” Hargitay responded honestly. “I think that’s when they should be together.”
“If it’s right,” she added. “We’ll see when we get there.”
