Diane Keatonâs grieving son, Duke, was seen for the first time since his motherâs passing, leaving the late actressâs Los Angeles home on Sunday. The 25-year-old kept a low profile, dressed entirely in black as he mourned the loss of the beloved Hollywood icon who adopted him as a baby.

As per photos published by TMZ, Duke appeared to honor his mother in a subtle but meaningful way. Around his neck, he wore two cross necklaces, a signature accessory Keaton often wore herself.
The Oscar winner was known for her bold, eccentric fashion sense, usually pairing layered jewelry with her trademark hats and tailored suits.
A Devoted Mother & Fiercely Independent Woman

Keaton, who died on October 11 at age 79, adopted her two children later in life, daughter Dexter in 1996 and Duke in 2001. She once told People that her kids werenât interested in her fame, calling it âvery healthy.â
âThey have no interest in what I do, which I think is very healthy,â Keaton said in 2007. âWe live a relatively normal, well, sort of normal, life.â
The Oscar winner never married, despite her famous romances with Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, and Woody Allen. In a 2021 Interview Magazine feature, she reflected on how her mother shaped her views on independence.
âShe was the best mother,â Keaton said. âBut I think she is the reason why I didnât get married. I didnât want to give up my independence.â
Friends & Colleagues Continue to Mourn the Loss
On Sunday, Keatonâs close friends were seen gathering at her Los Angeles home to pay their respects. Actress Sarah Paulson, a longtime friend, was spotted arriving with flowers, while Ben Affleckâs black SUV was also seen pulling up to the property.
Music legend Carole Bayer Sager told People that she had recently seen Keaton and was âstunnedâ by how much weight the actress had lost. âShe was a magic light for everyone,â Sager shared. âShe was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy.â
Hollywood tributes have continued to pour in from stars including Jane Fonda, Leonardo DiCaprio, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Goldie Hawn, and Bette Midler: each remembering Keatonâs humor, creativity, and signature charm.
Keatonâs final public appearance came in April 2024 at a Thom Browne dinner in Beverly Hills. Her last film role was in the comedy âSummer Camp,â where she starred alongside Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard.
The two-time Golden Globe winner first rose to fame in âThe Godfather,â where she played Kay Adams-Corleone opposite Al Pacino. She later starred in several Woody Allen classics, including âAnnie Hall,â which earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress.
Even in her final months, Keaton continued to find beauty in small things, from walking her dog, Reggie, to photographing Californiaâs landscapes.
Her last Instagram post, shared on April 11 for National Pet Day, showed her smiling beside Reggie, a glimpse of the warmth and light she carried throughout her life.
