Do you have Netflix? Do you love a good crime series? Well then, we’re going to make you an offer you can’t refuse.
There’s a fantastic new documentary that only landed on Netflix on October 22 but has already soared to the number 1 spot on the streaming service’s chart.
Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia is a three-part docuseries that tracks the history of Philly’s criminal underworld begining soon after the arrest of the infamous Nicky Scarfo in 1986.
What followed was a bloody war between established mobsters and a new breed of criminal who had no respect for the Mafia’s ‘outdated’ traditions.
As the factions fought for power, however, they caught the attention of the FBI, which sought to crush organised crime in Philly forever.
Since debuting on Netflix, the show has already earned itself a legion of fans online.

‘I’ve been waiting for #MobWar on @NetflixUK for a while now, and it has not disappointed at all. It’s yet another fantastic mob documentary from
@Netflix,’ added @GaryRWard.

‘Excellent documentary on the Mafia in Philadelphia in the 1990s,’ they wrote.
‘As a 3rd generation native Philadelphian, I’d say very authentic description of the culture of South Philly and the FBI, with whom I’ve had the pleasure of being personally acquainted when they were investigating a business I was working for in the 80s. Definitely worth watching.’
Critics enjoyed the series as well, with The Wall Street Journal writing Mob War ‘makes good use, and a good story, out of the short-lived but bloody mob rule that broke out in the ’90s’.
Decider, meanwhile, said they were’ fascinated’ by the segments about how the FBI set up surveillance in risky places.
Not everyone is a fan of the series, however.On Reddit, Junior_Jackfruit complained that he didn’t like to see criminals glamorised, adding, ‘The idolization of these scumbags is baffling’.
Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia is available to stream on Netflix now.
