Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been vandalised just days after her death.

The country music icon and philanthropist died aged 80 on August 25, leading to an outpouring of grief from her fans around the world.

While fans have left tributes at various meaningful locations around the world, her Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been damaged.

Parton’s name appeared to be scratched out, according to reports, as crews worked to repair the damage.

A new star was seen being placed at the landmark on Tuesday, September 1, after the original was defaced.

Parton was originally awarded her star in 1985 alongside actor Sylvester Stallone, with the pair having starred together in the 1984 comedy film Rhinestone.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said that repairs to Parton’s star are already underway.

Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the organisation, told People: ‘A fan went to the star yesterday and reported on social that the star was vandalized with many scratches.

‘From the photo she posted, it does appear the star was vandalized with scratches.

‘This repair was set up late last week and the crew just completed the first part of making said repairs.

‘The star repairs are currently ongoing and are done by the Hollywood Historic Trust which maintains and repairs the Walk of Fame stars. The star will cure and will be polished on Friday for fans to enjoy.’

The vandalism comes less than a week after Parton died on August 25.

On Sunday, Parton’s estate announced that a two-day festival honouring the late singer will be held in Nashville and London.

The festival was originally scheduled to take place in January 2026 around Parton’s 80th birthday and was going to feature her as a performer and host.

Now, however, it will celebrate her legacy.

In a touching Instagram post on Saturday, Parton’s niece Lainey shared: ‘I wanted to wait until after my granny was laid to rest yesterday before I tried to put any of this into words.’

She said that her Aunt Dolly ‘never made my dreams feel too big or made me feel like I couldn’t do something. She believed in me before I even knew how to believe in myself’.
