Landing a role in “F1: The Movie” was more than just another job for Damson Idris. For him, it was a surreal full-circle moment. The “Snowfall” star, whoâs steadily rising in Hollywood, found himself sharing the screen (and the driverâs seat) with one of the industryâs biggest names: Brad Pitt.

They may clash on the track in F1: The Movie, but behind the scenes, Brad Pitt was all heart. Damson Idris, who stars as rookie driver Joshua Pearce, called Pitt âan amazing, giving, humble human beingâ.
He said Pitt supported him throughout filming.

âHe constantly wants you to win,â Idris told Us Weekly exclusively. âThe best thing I got from Brad is like the movie, which is so funny: Forget about the noise and focus on the race.â
Brad Pitt Shared Life Lessons With Damson Idris On Set of ‘F1’
Brad, who has been in an introspective mood of late, was a mentor to Idris. Beyond racing scenes and car crashes, Idris says Pitt passed down real-life wisdom. As per the US Weekly report, âAnytime you have ups and downs in life, like clouds, they too shall pass,â Idris shared.
âI think thatâs the greatest piece of advice I got from Brad â to just focus on the goal: telling great stories and being a part of great movies.â
How Brad Pitt and Damson Idris Brought Real-Life Mentorship to Their Onscreen Rivalry
In “F1: The Movie”, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes â a washed-up former F1 driver pulled back into the sport to mentor Pearce.

But their characters donât exactly hit it off at first. Pearce, distracted by fame, sponsorships, and social media, must be reminded of his late fatherâs mantra: âPut your head down and drive.â
Meanwhile, Hayes â who lives in a van and races in smaller circuits after a near-fatal accident â is coaxed back into the spotlight by his former teammate, played by Javier Bardem, to help guide Pearce.
Directed by the team behind Top Gun: Maverick, F1 puts both Pitt and Idris behind the wheel â for real. Under the mentorship of producer and F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, the actors reached speeds of up to 180 MPH.
âThe scariest thing in the world,â Idris admitted â but it was worth it for the action-packed result.
F1: The Movie hits theaters Friday, June 27.
