According to court records obtained by People, McCrary, 49, was arrested on Oct. 5 by the United States Border Patrol and booked at 7:17 p.m. in a San Diego County jail. Authorities listed the charge as a fugitive arrest tied to an out-of-state felony warrant.

McCrary’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, and he remains in custody without bail.

Court documents list McCrary’s case as a “fugitive arrest,” referencing a section of the California Penal Code that applies to individuals detained in the state who are wanted elsewhere for serious offenses.

However, a representative for the actor told TMZ that the warrant originated in Michigan and stemmed from a missed court appearance related to unpaid child support.

The “Family Matters” alum has not publicly commented on the situation, but supporters have taken to social media to share messages of encouragement and calls for compassion. One fan wrote, “I HOPE ITS NOT TRUE I LOVE HIM,” while another commented, “This is shocking news about Darius McCrary.” A third added simply, “Sending prayers.”

Inside McCrary’s Legal Troubles, Ongoing Career, & Family Life

McCrary has maintained an active presence on social media, often sharing moments from his daily life and his role as a devoted father. Over the summer, he posted a heartfelt birthday tribute to his eldest son, writing, “Send some #cakeday #birthday love to my eldest son, my main rapper scrapper @z_alanoly777 #verymccrary keep it #cool baby 😎🫶🏾.”

According to People, this is the third time McCrary has been arrested since 2015. The actor’s past legal issues have largely centered around his divorce and custody case with ex-wife Tammy Brawner, a former Harlem Globetrotter. Their divorce was finalized in 2019.

Despite personal and legal challenges, McCrary remains best known for his breakout role as Eddie Winslow on the widely popular television series “Family Matters,” where he starred alongside Reginald VelJohnson, Jo Marie Payton, and Jaleel White.

He has continued to work steadily in television and film, appearing in projects such as “The Leftovers,” “Saw VI,” and “True to the Game.” Fans of the long-running series have rallied around him online, expressing hope that the actor will find peace and resolution in the coming months.
