A friend and colleague of Michael Mosley has shared a powerful anecdote about the late TV doctor following his death.

It was confirmed today (June 10) that Mosley died of natural causes after he went missing on Wednesday on the Greek island of Symi.

According to police, the TV doctor – known for appearances on The One Show and This Morning, to name just two – died on the day he went missing, with his body found on Sunday in a rocky area near Agia Marina beach.

Since the tragic news of Mosley’s death was confirmed, tributes have flooded the internet and countless TV stars have recalled fond memories of working with him.

Appearing on The One Show alongside Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas on Monday evening, Hannah Fry spoke highly of the late health guru.

As Jermaine praised Mosley for his ‘kindness’, she said he was also ‘modest’.

She began in her anecdote: ‘I remember there was this rumour going around that he had saved somebody’s life in the office.

‘I went and approached him about it and was like, “Tell me, is this true?” and he, sort of, brushed it off, but it was completely true.’

Detailing what happened, she explained: ‘Somebody collapsed in the BBC offices, in the corridors, and he saw them collapse, he went over, he performed CPR on them for almost half an hour until the emergency services arrived.

‘Saved her life, she’s gone on to have two children, this extraordinary thing…

‘If that was me, as I introduce myself, the first thing I would say is, “Did you know I saved somebody’s life?” but for Michael, it was just part of it.’

Elsewhere in the show, presenter Alex shared her own tribute for Mosley, describing him as someone the nation viewed as ‘their doctor’ who will be ‘sorely missed’.

She also sent her condolences to Mosley’s wife and his children, vowing that his ‘legacy will live on’.

Alex hailed Mosley as ‘a dear friend and colleague’, opening the show by recalling how he was part of the line-up of original One Show reporters, having made his first appearance in 2007.

‘He’s been a familiar presence on the show ever since.’

Later in the show, Alex said: ‘His death has been felt by millions of people all around the world who regarded him as their doctor.

‘He was a super generous man. Even when he’d come on here in my early days, when I was a bit shy, you always felt in such safe hands and he was so generous with tips and tricks, anything you wanted to talk about.’

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
