ITV viewers have been left scratching their heads after pointing out an apparent mistake on The 1% Club.

Hosted by Lee Mack since its launch in 2022, the game show is styled as an IQ test, with the questions based on ‘logic and common sense’ rather than general knowledge.

It sees 100 contestants all compete by answering a total of 15 logic-inspired questions right in the hopes of winning a £100,000 cash prize.

However, the questions get increasingly harder – starting with ones 90 per cent of the population polled got right, all the way down to 1 per cent.

But after playing along at home, some viewers noticed a problem with one question.

On Saturday night, there appeared to be multiple correct answers to a question from the 30 per cent section.

The 1% Club viewers believe a question on the most recent episode had two answers ITV)

It read: ‘Amrit and his grandad share the same birthday. Their birthday balloons arrive muddled up. Amrit’s grandad is three times older than him. How old is Amrit?’

An image beneath the question showed four gold balloons shaped in the numbers six, eight, seven and two.

The correct answer to the question was that Amrit is 26 years old, making his grandfather 78.

However, one viewer commented on the show’s official Instagram page, saying their partner was ‘adamant’ his answer of 29 was also correct.

This was the question contestants were asked to answer (Picture: ITV)

‘There’s no string on those balloons,’ he wrote. ‘Therefore, you could turn the six upside down. 3×29=87 What do you reckon? Was he still in, or was he out of the game?’

Many others agreed, also sharing their opinions on social media.

‘Erm the answer could also be 29,’ Neil posted on X.

‘I am doubling down on this being correct as the 6 balloon turned upside down is 9 and 29 x 3 is 87. (If my maths is correct!),’ Jim shared.

Many were eliminated however viewers said another answer was actually possible (Picture: ITV)

Another added that if they’d been one of the contestants, they would ‘expect to appeal’ while several others said strings should have been drawn on the balloons if they wanted to ‘avoid’ competitors flipping the balloons upside down.

This is far from the first time passionate viewers have noticed some problems with details on the show.

Earlier this year some playing on the show’s app pointed out it had completely crashed, with the correct answers being marked as wrong and was starting the game at the wrong point.

One person joked the issues on their husband’s app while theirs could work, writing that ‘divorce may ensue’.

Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment.

The 1% Club airs Saturdays at 8.55pm on ITV1.
