Gary Barlow arrived home to a shock recently when he discovered his £6,000,000 mansion had been burgled.

The Take That star was performing on the penultimate episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway last month when his house was broken into.

He was joined by his two bandmates Mark Owen, 52, and Howard Donald, 56, as they performed their hit tune Shine on the ITV show, with the episode airing the following week.

With Gary, 53, away for the weekend in early April, burglars swooped in once the house was in darkness, forcing the property’s front gate on the main road of a village in the South of England.

It is understood Shine hitmaker Gary, 53, was unaware a burglary had taken place until the following day (April 8).

As per The Sun, this is when the police were alerted.

No arrests have been made as of yet.

It also remains unclear what, if anything, was stolen.

It is not known whether Gary’s wife, Dawn, whom he married in 2000, was at home.

The couple shares two childrenDaniel and Emily – but, again, it is unclear whether they were inside the home at the time of the break-in.

Following the burglary, crime scene investigators were seen taking photos of Gary’s Grade II-listed mansion.

Meanwhile, neighbours recalled seeing his front gate damaged.

‘When I drove past I saw officers taking photos of the gates, which had been damaged,’ said one resident.

‘They were left half open. A few days later the gates had been fixed.’

Another neighbour, aged 76, said police asked him whether he had seen anything suspicious but he ‘wasn’t aware of anything’.

‘I noticed the gates were flapping open. It’s a rather secluded place. It’s a warning to us all,’ he added.

‘There have been other burglaries we’ve heard about in the area within the last year or so. There are a few big houses and Mr Barlow’s is one of them.’

Other locals described Gary as a ‘lovely neighbour’, saying they are ‘devastated’ to learn of what happened.

Gary has lived at his property since 2007, having originally purchased it for £2.3million.

The Back For Good vocalist has been travelling up and down the country over recent weeks, with Olly Murs as Take That’s tour opener.

Until June, the trio are covering 31 dates in 15 cities, performing to thousands of fans with extra dates added due to high demand.

Reps for Gary Barlow declined to comment further.
