Geri Horner’s daughter Bluebell Madonna has quietly dipped her toe into the family business – although she apparently has no intention of becoming Ginger Spice 2.0.
The rarely seen 20-year-old has taken to the stage for two intimate performances with her university pals, including a secret charity gig in London.
Bluebell, who is currently studying English Literature, performed at Piano Smithfield, an independent live music venue and piano bar near the Barbican, to raise money for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
Rather than cashing in on one of the more recognisable surnames in British pop, she kept things decidedly low-key, performing simply as Bluebell alongside her friends.
She had also previously tested the waters with a warm-up performance at their student bar ahead of the charity event.
Despite apparently inheriting some of mum’s musical ability, however, Bluebell isn’t currently plotting her own assault on the charts.
‘Just like her mum, Bluebell has a keen ear for music and has really enjoyed getting on stage,’ a source told The Sun.
They added that the gigs had gone down well, but claimed she has ‘no plans to become a singer’ and is instead interested in pursuing marketing and working behind the camera.
Geri, 54, is said to be hugely supportive of whatever her daughter decides to do next – even if that doesn’t involve a Union Jack dress and a platform boot.
Bluebell is the former Spice Girls star’s eldest child from her relationship with screenwriter and director Sacha Gervasi.
She was born in May 2006, almost exactly nine years before Geri married former Red Bull Formula One boss Christian Horner in 2015. The couple later welcomed son Montague, known as Monty, in 2017.
And although Bluebell has largely remained away from the celebrity spotlight, she has some fairly formidable connections to the music world.
Victoria Beckham is one of her godmothers, while the late George Michael’s former partner Kenny Goss was named as her godfather.
But rather than banking on those connections for a pop career, Bluebell appears to have been carving out a path of her own.
Earlier this year she completed a 12-week internship at global brand management company Authentic Brands Group, whose portfolio spans fashion, sports and entertainment.
She has also contributed to Perfect magazine and was among the famous faces at the Brit Awards in Manchester earlier this year.
Bluebell travelled to the ceremony aboard a privately hired British Pullman train alongside some rather familiar company, reportedly sharing the journey with Dua Lipa’s family and chatting to Nick Grimshaw and AJ Odudu.
The awards themselves would have provided another neat connection to her mum’s pop history.
This year marked 29 years since Geri turned a tea towel-sized Union Jack dress into one of the most famous outfits of the 1990s during the Spice Girls’ performance at the 1997 Brit Awards.
For now, though, Bluebell’s brushes with the music industry appear to be strictly for fun.
Perhaps that’s for the best. Having Ginger Spice for a mum and Victoria Beckham for a godmother is already quite enough pressure for one family tree.
