Although Tracy is Rob’s first child, the two aren’t biologically related. Reiner adopted Tracy when he married her mother, Penny Marshall. Marshall, an actress known for her work on “Laverne & Shirley” and “Big,” married the “Stand By Me” director in 1971. Tracy was only in elementary school when Reiner took her under his wing and raised her as his own.

Marshall and Reiner were married for ten years before parting ways. Later, Reiner married Michele Singer, with whom he had three children, giving Tracy three half-siblings. Her mother, Marshall, passed away in 2018.

Tracy Reiner’s Hollywood Career

Tracy utilized her family connections to start her own acting career, taking on roles in various films directed by her parents. She played a test market researcher in “Big,” directed by her mother. She also held a role in her father’s hit romantic comedy, “When Harry Met Sally.”

The film follows two friends who eventually recognize that they’re in love with each other. Before they make that realization, though, they each date other people. One of the women Harry dates was played by Tracy, according to Business Insider. Although Tracy’s role wasn’t very big, her presence led Sally to note that Emily, her character, “is a little young for Harry.”

When her mother directed “A League of Their Own,” Tracy got her chance at a main role. She played Betty “Spaghetti” Horn, the left fielder for the film’s main baseball team.

“A League of Their Own” and “Big” weren’t the only times Tracy worked alongside Tom Hanks. The two acted in four movies together in total. They were both in “Apollo 13,” and Hanks directed Tracy in “That Thing You Do!”

Tracy Reiner’s Post-Hollywood Career

According to an interview with Jeff Pearlman, Tracy began heading a team that funded and marketed a new medical software company in 2013. “I love lens history and projection as well as farm and water technologies and alternative energies,” Tracy said of her work.

Today, according to LinkedIn, Tracy is the president of the Women’s Club of Hollywood, a role she’s held since 2021.

Her father will surely be missed, and our hearts are with Tracy and her family during this difficult time.
