Gogglebox viewers have rallied around Stephen Lustig-Webb after trolls hit out over an Instagram photo posted after his divorce.

The Channel 4 star, 52, announced he had separated from husband Daniel, 48, after six years of marriage earlier this month.

The former couple parted ways amicably – stating they had simply ‘grown apart’ – and have even made cheeky jokes about their split on social media.

However, some trolls have unfairly criticised Stephen after he posted a picture of himself out with friends in a bar in Notting Hill, London on Saturday.

Dozens of his followers jumped to his defence and were left appalled Stephen was being blasted for enjoying himself after confirming the divorce.

Instagram user Jade Wilson was among those slamming trolls for being ‘quick to judge’ and called their comments ‘ridiculous.’

Fans leapt to Stephen’s defense and told the troll to ‘mind your own business’ (Picture: Instagram)

Echoing Jade’s sentiment, Louise Arthurs: ‘Jesus cut the guy some slack!!! He’s allowed to go out and enjoy himself be it a date or a meet up with a friend you people make me laugh. Mind ur own bees wax. @stephengwebb1971 enjoy your weekend mate.’

Katie May added: ‘The judgies are out in force today. Conclusions jumping more than an Olympic Trampolinist. Have a lovely time Stephen. Xx.’

Stacey Hammond agreed and commented: None of you know exactly how long ago their marriage broke up, none of you know him on a personal level, so stop acting like you do. It may be a friend, a partner or other, who cares it’s none of our business.’

Proving they are still the best of friends, the exes joked about their separation on social media.

Taking to social media one day after confirming their divorce, Stephen and Daniel enjoyed a day out in the sunshine, with Daniel mocking alongside a video of Stephen cycling: ‘Riding tandem straight out of this marriage.’

Stephen also posted a photo on his feed with Daniel and a loved one, writing: ‘Lovely day celebrating @lustigellie birthday 🥳 @lustig75 🥰.’

In separate statements, the TV stars confirmed their divorce on April 20 but vowed to remain friends.

Stephen and Daniel appeared on Gogglebox together from 2019 until they quit last year to ‘explore other opportunities’.

‘After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox,’ Stephen shared on Instagram.

‘We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.’

Stephen was one of the original stars of the show, joining Gogglebox for season one in 2013, with his former partner Christopher Steed.

After Christopher left the series in 2017, Stephen’s mother Pat Webb took his place from series 10 to 12.

Daniel has joined Stephen since series 13, appearing on Gogglebox from 2019 alongside the likes of married couple Dave and Shirley Griffiths, sisters Izzy and Ellie Warner, and best friends Jenny Newby and Lee Riley.

Stephen was originally announced as part of this year’s Dancing On Ice line-up but was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury.

Gogglebox is available to stream on Channel 4.
