A fan is actually tapping the Rockstar website for new information (Rockstar Games)
A dataminer suggests Rockstar is getting ready to post new GTA 6 cover art, with a release date and links to pre-orders.
Fans have been waiting 11 years for Grand Theft Auto 6, since GTA 5 come out all that time ago, and despite some rumours that the upcoming action adventure game is delayed until 2026, it’s still believed to be on course for a 2025 release.
Such is the excitement that fans have combed through every frame of the GTA 6 trailer, and even recreated it, with the latest one starring the main characters from GTA 5.
It’s not a surprise then, that fans are also exploring the Rockstar website for new information, and one fan claims they’ve now found references that prove that the publisher is about to post new cover art, along with the release date of the game, and a link to pre-orders.
A post on Reddit is getting a lot of traction, which claims that programming code indicates new GTA 6 cover art is on its way, with references to ‘release date in words’ and ‘digital purchases’.
This has lead the poster, and other fans, to conclude that Rockstar is getting ready to reveal more information about GTA 6.
This makes some sense, as Rockstar could be eyeing up the Xbox and PlayStation showcases in June to announce new material and debut the second trailer for the game.
The Reddit poster also says they found code that references ‘url_rating,’ ‘img_rating,’ ‘rating_descriptors,’ and ‘platforms’ for the new cover art.
They also added: ‘I would assume all this would go live at the same time, meaning between now and the investor call [Rockstar earnings call is on 16 May]. If it goes live then, we are likely to get pre-orders and even the release date for GTA 6.’

Nothing in the code indicates when Rockstar is publishing the cover art on its site, and there’s no specific mention of a trailer, but it seems very unlikely that the release date would be announced without a new trailer.
Rockstar has been completely mute about the game since the first trailer came out, but a good time to reveal the second trailer would be during the Xbox or PlayStation showcases next month. Or perhaps Summer Game Fest, which is also happening in June.
