Hollywood icon Anne Hathaway looks almost unrecognisable in an edgy, gender-bending new photoshoot.

The Princess Diaries actor, 41, ditched her signature long, brown locks for a short, slicked-back crop of hair twinned with a bold, masculine white shirt and dark trousers.

Hathaway accessorised with a pencil through the collar, as you do, as a chunky statement belt in the shoot for V Magazine’s V148 Summer 2024 release.

Another shot saw The Devil Wears Prada actor lying across a sofa in a black blazer and trousers, with their short, gelled hair now shaggy across their face.

Hathaway donned a flowing, feathery dress and eye-catching red heels in one photo, with her long hair waved to match the texture of the gown.

It comes ahead of the star’s latest film, The Idea Of You, set to be released on May 2 via Amazon Prime Video.

‌Starring Nicholas Galitzine, Ella Rubin, Perry Mattfeld and Reid Scott, the film tells the story of 40-year-old single mother Solène Marchand (Hathaway) who takes her daughter to Coachella at her ex-husband’s request.

There she meets Hayes Campbell the 24-year-old single of a popular boyband, whom she soon strikes up a budding romance.

Talking to the publication, Hathaway detailed meeting leading man Galitzine during the casting process of The Idea of You, based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee.

‌’We had met a number of young men already, but I remember laughing when Nick walked in because he was so ridiculously perfect for the part. I just thought, he is it. Is he gonna be able to read the lines? Read the lines, great. Okay, can you sing? Oh, my God, he can sing. Wait and he can play the guitar? Okay, and he’s just fun to be around. He’s just charming. Like, he’s just charmed this entire room,’ she recalled.

The actor also gave fans of her most famous roles updates on their eagerly-awaited potential sequels – but there’s good and bad news.

Speaking about the potential for a third Princess Diaries film, Hathaway, who starred as Mia Thermopolis in both films, was optimistic.

‘We’re in a good place. That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place,’ she said.

However, The Devil Wears Prada fans who may want to see the star reprise her role as Andy have had their hopes dashed.

‌When asked about a potential second film, she said: ”Probably not. We all love each other and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we’d all be crazy not to. But there’s a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object.

‘Now with so much being digital, it would just be very different. Maybe me, Stanley, Emily, Meryl, Dave Frankel, Patricia Field…we should just all do something else together. That’d be fun.’
