Hollywood Icon Nicole Kidman Makes Big Announcement Following Divorce Filing

Nicole Kidman Steps Into a New Role Amid Divorce

Nicole Kidman is embracing change with elegance and focus. Less than a week after filing for divorce from Keith Urban, the Academy Award-winning actress, 58, has stepped into a new role as Chanel’s latest ambassador, WWD confirmed on October 6.

The announcement marks a major career milestone as Kidman navigates her personal life with grace. She’s set to attend the French fashion house’s first show under creative director Matthieu Blazy in Paris later today.

“As someone who has such an appreciation for haute couture, I am so looking forward to witnessing Matthieu’s vision for the oldest haute couture house still in operation,” Kidman said in a statement to WWD. “Chanel has always been ahead of the curve, shining a smart and gracious light on women, and I am sure Matthieu will be no exception, just like Karl did in his time.”

Staying Professional While Navigating Personal Change

“Nicole is honoring her work commitments, as is Keith,” a source told People exclusively of the actress and the 57-year-old country musician.

The “Babygirl” star has a long and storied relationship with Chanel, one that spans more than two decades. In 2003, she became the face of the brand’s legendary Chanel No. 5 perfume, later starring in “Chanel No. 5: The Film” — a 180-second cinematic short directed by Baz Luhrmann and co-starring Rodrigo Santoro.

Nearly 20 years later, Kidman paid tribute to that iconic era at the 2023 Met Gala, walking the carpet with Urban in the same blush-pink tulle gown she wore in the Chanel No. 5 campaign. “This dress was worn in the Chanel No. 5 commercial that Baz Luhrmann and I did with Karl, who concocted this out of his head,” Kidman told La La Anthony on the red carpet.

The gown remains one of Kidman’s most memorable looks, featuring 250 pink feathers, 3,000 sequins, and a four-meter train. She paired it with a black bow in her hair and diamond chandelier earrings set in platinum.

Kidman said, “I suppose the way these couture gowns last is because of their exquisiteness. If you take care of them and love them, they are timeless.”

Focusing on Family & the Future

Kidman shares two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Urban. Her eldest, Sunday, recently joined her mother’s fashion orbit, attending an intimate Chanel dinner in Paris on September 11, to celebrate Sofia Coppola’s book, “Chanel Haute Couture.” The appearance marked the next generation’s growing connection to the storied French fashion house.

Just four days after filing for divorce, Kidman made her first public appearance at amfAR’s Dallas charity auction on October 4, supporting the nonprofit’s efforts in AIDS research and prevention.

News of the couple’s split broke on September 29, with sources telling People that Kidman and Urban had privately separated earlier in the summer after 19 years of marriage. In her filing on September 30, the Oscar winner cited irreconcilable differences and requested to be the primary residential parent.

Through it all, Kidman has remained composed and focused on what matters most: her career and her children. Her new partnership with Chanel reflects both strength and renewal, showing how she continues to face life’s changes with grace and determination.
