How Alec Baldwin’s Marriage Almost Ended

Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin went through a very rough time in their marriage, and Hilaria opened up about it in her upcoming memoir, “Manual Not Included,” which is set to release on May 6.

According to The Sun, Hilaria talks about a time she was “ready to walk” away, which came before she gave birth to their second child, Rafael, in 2015. Specifically, she explained that during her pregnancy, she and Alec “fought a lot” due to his demanding work schedule that required a lot of travel. She, on the other hand, was at home taking care of their daughter Carmen along with their dogs.

But one of the worst moments was when he was taking calls and responding to emails while she was in labor.

“It really pissed me off, and I didn’t hesitate to tell him so,” she wrote, per the US Sun and added that Alec immediately returned to work after the birth of Rafael.

“That year was probably the rockiest for us, and not just in terms of juggling a baby and a toddler,” she wrote. “I was so focused on how I thought things should be, and Alec was so set in his ways. Neither one of us would budge.”

At one point, Hilaria even admits that she took her rings off, which was “a sign that I was potentially ready to walk.”

However, the couple got through it and ultimately renewed their vows on June 30, 2017.

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin Open Up About How They Met in 2012 Interview

In a 2012 interview with the New York Times, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin opened up their relationship, specifically revealing how they met at a restaurant in New York in February 2011. Hilaria said that she was “standing near the door with my friends” when Alec walked up to her and “took my hand and said, ‘I must know you.’ ”

“’You must know me?’” Hilaria responded, to which Alec then handed her his card.

But, when looking back on this moment, Alec said that this opening line “was none too clever,” in the interview, also claiming he “never ask women for their phone numbers.”

On the other hand, Hilaria wasn’t sure if she should call Alec, but her friends convinced her.

“So my friend dialed the number, but he didn’t pick up,” she revealed. “And when he called back, I missed the call.”

Eventually, the two were able to link up and had their first date a few days later.

And now, the rest is history.

Alec and Baldwin Have 7 Children Together

Just a year after Alec and Hilaria Baldwin were married, the two started their family. In August 2013, their first child, a daughter named Carmen, was born, followed by the birth of their second child, a son named Rafael, in June 2015. The couple welcomed their third child, a boy named Leonardo Ángel Charles, in September 2016.

In 2018, their family grew to four when Hilaria gave birth to their fourth child, a son named Romeo Alejandro David in May 2018. Hilaria went through two miscarriages before welcoming their fifth child, a boy named Eduardo Pau Luca, in September 2020.

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin wanted to continue to grow their family, and welcomed their sixth child, a girl named María Lucía Victoria Baldwin, via surrogacy in March 2021. Hilaria then gave birth to the couple’s final child in September 2022, welcoming a girl named Ilaria Catalina Irena.

Alec also has a daughter, Ireland Baldwin, from a previous marriage.
