Neil Young has shared a rare video of him performing his iconic song Silver and Gold for the first time in almost 20 years.
The folk-rock legend, 79, released the track in 2000 on his album of the same name, but the song was written in 1981.
But Young has rarely performed the song in concert, with the last time he sang it live being in 2007.
The video, which went live on Christmas day, shows the music icon strumming his guitar as he warbles the lyrics to the song: ‘Silver and gold
Silver and gold / Mean so much more when I see / Silver and gold decorations / On every Christmas tree’
As the song finishes, Young says: ‘Is that our first fireside session?’
When the song first came out, Young told KGSR Radio: ‘I tried it several ways. And it was such a nice, it’s just such a song, you know. It just kind of lives with the guitar. It’s just there.’
He continued: ‘I really recorded, I think, a total of 11 times with different people in all kinds of different configurations. And we got ’em all, none of them are worth listening to.
‘But this one here finally just got back to the roots of it and just sat down with my guitar and played it and said, “That’s it.” Because I love the song and I feel the song now and it means something to me now.’
The video comes amid rumours that Young may take to the stage at Glastonbury this summer.

It’s been 16 years since he last played Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage but many believe a return is finally ‘on the cards.’
Worthy Farm rumours continue to swirl as everything from Kings of Leon’s suspicious tour schedule to Nile Rodgers’ accidental confirmation adds fuel to the fire.
Sir Rod Stewart, 79, is the only act confirmed for Glastonbury 2025 so far, taking the coveted Legends slot on Sunday afternoon.
That leaves three headline spaces still up for grabs and organisers appear to be planning to go into the fallow year with an explosive 2025 event.
‘He is keen to play a handful of big shows in Europe and his team are keen to get him on the line-up,’ a source told The Sun of Young’s Glastonbury prospects.

The singer, who started his career in the 1960s, has bagged multiple Grammys across his career, as well as being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: in 1995 as a solo artist and in 1997 as a member of his first band, the folk-rock outfit Buffalo Springfield.
They added: ‘With Sir Rod Stewart confirmed to play, if Emily Eavis can get Neil on board too there would be two huge legends on the line up. Stevie Wonder is also in the mix for this year as well as The 1975.
‘Glastonbury appears to be leaning back into its roots of rock, and if they can secure Neil it would be an amazing addition to what is already shaping up to be an incredible line up.’
