The I’m A Celebrity South Africa final was one of the most explosive moments on television so far this year as campmate tensions boiled over.

Jimmy Bullard continued his argument with Adam Thomas, who reportedly stormed off set after winning due to continued ‘bullying’ from David Haye.

The feud stemmed from his decision to pull out of a Bushtucker Trial without even attempting it, which would have also ended Adam’s time on the show.

Former Waterloo Road star, Adam, had flown off the handle, allegedly dropping unaired ‘c-bombs’ in a moment that Jimmy branded ‘intimidating’ and ‘abusive’.

The incident was brought up again during the final, with Ant and Dec forced to weigh in, which many viewers saw as them siding with Adam.

However, comedian Matt Richardson has shared that his friend on production claimed Jimmy was ‘right’, he just made one major error.

Matt, 34, who worked on the I’m A Celeb spin-off ‘years ago’, explained the presenters had to protect ITV in that moment because Jimmy had blamed the edit.

‘If you’re a presenter, so, if you’re Ant and Dec in this moment, they got quite annoyed – I was surprised to see it obviously,’ he said on TikTok.

‘Jimmy made the error of blaming the show whilst on the show, that was the mistake he made. He obviously said, “the edit didn’t show everything”, other people agreed with him.’

The hosts agreed that Adam had dropped some ‘c-bombs’ but stated it had been cut because it was ‘unbroadcastable’ rather than for any other intent.

Matt shared that because he came for ITV’s decisions and insinuated bits were cut to protect Adam, the hosts had to side with the actor to protect the show.

‘I have a friend who works on the production of I’m A Celeb,’ he revealed. ‘And he said Jimmy is in the right. He said he was correct but Jimmy handled it badly in the final.

‘He brought it up wrong, he got upset about it, that’s hard. It meant that, ultimately, Ant and Dec weren’t defending Adam, they were defending the show.’

‘They have to then take the side of the edit,’ he added. ‘Even if the show had done that, and I don’t know if they did, they’re never going to back Jimmy when he’s accusing it of editing to protect Adam.’

After the event, the former footballer appeared to have a tense run-in with Ant McPartlin outside the venue as security staff swarmed around the host.

Campmate Sinitta claimed Adam, had been ‘intimidating’ in that moment while David attempted to weigh in, landing himself a cutting ‘you weren’t even there’ from Ant.

However, the remaining campmates – including Sir Mo Farah and Gemma Scarlett Moffat – had decided to invite Adam back in after the fallout.

Ultimately, as Harry Redknapp had said during the trial, it all came down to a public vote anyway, so he was allowed to continue.

Matt shared how he had met Jimmy in 2014 when the footballer was first voted out of the jungle, and they ended up on a night out together.

He called him a ‘very no bs’ kind of guy, so believed that if he thought he was in the wrong, he would have ‘put his hands up’.

‘I think he genuinely feels like he’s in the right,’ the former Xtra Factor host explained. ‘I don’t think he had a problem with Adam by that point, it seemed like he was like, “Yeah, I’ll take an apology”.’

In response to Jimmy’s comments on the final, Adam said: ‘I take full responsibility for my actions. Yes, emotions were definitely running high in that moment, but listen, I’ve got nothing but love for Jimmy.’

He’s since spoken about how his mental and physical health suffered while on the show, particularly after the behaviour of the Haymaker.
