Jamie Laing has come under fire after admitting on his podcast that he tried to have sex with his wife Sophie Habboo just weeks after giving birth.

The former Made in Chelsea stars were chatting on NewlyParents after the birth of their baby Ziggy when Jamie revealed he ‘tried to initiate it a couple weeks in’.

Sophie, 32, proceeded to do an impression of Jamie, 37, and reminded him that he ‘stamped your little arms and your legs’ and complained that he had ‘waited a year’.

As per the clip, which was posted on TikTok by a fan account and appears to have been removed from the original recording, Jamie denied the insinuation that he was ‘literally crying’ as he asked for sex from her.

Some users on social media have responded to the video in shock.

Marina called it ‘horrifying’, while Sabina reminded TikTokers: ‘Not only can’t you have sex until after six weeks, you also can’t have sex when the other person doesn’t want it.’

Kapsonesmakreel2024 also said: ‘This is concerning. Seriously nothing funny about it.’

When contacted by Metro about the response from fans, Sophie said: ‘Jamie and I have always had a relationship based on equality and mutual respect.

‘We don’t want our comments to be misunderstood, and whilst they might have been delivered in a light-hearted couple conversation as per the style of the podcast show, in no way should this be seen as making light of serious matters that do exist for many men and women.

‘We always take on board the feedback of our listeners and we will continue to do so.’

During the chat between Jamie and Sophie, the Candy Kittens co-founder was seen laughing as they recalled the moment.

Sophie explained her reaction and refusal to have sex with her husband: ‘And I was like: “Firstly, I actually physically cannot. I have stitches all down over me down there. Secondly, I have to be signed off by the doctor.” And you were like: “Oh that’s bulls***, always an excuse with you, you don’t have to be signed off with the doctor.”‘

The 31-year-old then said she asked Jamie to ‘get on the phone to Tarek [the doctor] now’.

Jamie continued: ‘Sophie was like: “I’m not having sex with you and I’m telling you why.” And I was like: “Why?” And she goes: “I’m not having sex because A) I’ve just had my stomach ripped open, I’ve got stitches everywhere. B) I have my son and your son sucking on my nipple every single day. I’m tired, I’m exhausted, I’m fraught. The last thing I want is you breathing on me. Get out of here.”‘

Sophie then shared that she forced Jamie to come with her to her six-week check-up because she wanted the doctor to confirm in front of Jamie that women shouldn’t be having sex earlier than six weeks after giving birth.

The conversation, which has sparked controversy online, looks to have been removed from available recordings of the podcast episode from early May on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, Acast and Apple.

On December 4, 2025, Jamie and Sophie confirmed that their son, Ziggy, had been born.

They shared Polaroid pictures of themselves in a hospital bed with their new baby.

Since then, they have released a three-part series with Disney Plus called Raising Chelsea and restarted their Newly podcast, regaling stories of early parenthood.

Metro reached out to Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo for comment.

NewlyParents is available to listen on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, Acast and Apple.
