Jared Leto faces new accusations from multiple women that he sexually assaulted them or behaved inappropriately when they were teenagers.
The Oscar-winning actor is the focus of a new BBC documentary – Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret – which sees a total of 10 women speak out.
‘He has gotten away with it,’ one of his alleged victims told the BBC of the encounter she said happened ’25 years ago’.
The allegations, which all pertain to incidents between 2002 and 2016, are the latest in a string of accusations that have followed Leto, 54, for years.
One woman claims to have been sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom at 17, while another says she was threatened with sexual assault when left alone in a hotel room with him unexpectedly at 19.
Another woman claims she was groomed by Leto when she was 16, with the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman ‘abusing his celebrity status’ and making repeated sexually explicit phone calls to her.
She claims that on at least one occasion he suggested they should have sex. Later, she was asked to sign an NDA to prevent her speaking about Leto; she refused.
A fourth alleged victim claims to have had underage sex with the Tron Ares actor in California when she was 17, with Leto ‘shrugging off’ concerns about the age of consent being 18 in the US state.
Along with these accusations, four more women claim to have received very sexual calls from Leto, who would have been in his 30s and 40s, while they were young.
While at a festival, one woman says the singer made a lewd comment about her chest during an autograph signing and instructed a security guard to bring her backstage. She was 14 at the time.
Her mother is said to have confronted Leto, but he just repeated the comment.
The documentary also features two men who worked with Thirty Seconds to Mars, with both saying the staff felt uncomfortable with Leto’s conduct.
‘I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big,’ one said, alleging he would invite teenage girls to his dressing room or to his house.
The BBC claims to have seen pictures and messages that support the women’s stories, as well as accounts corroborated by friends and family.
Leto has been a prominent actor since the 1990s, most recently appearing as Skeletor in Masters of the Universe.
He won the 2014 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club and took on supporting roles in Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049, and Suicide Squad.
