Jermaine Jenas has broken his social media silence on the sexting scandal that’s derailed his life and has dominated headlines since August.

The former The One Show and Match of The Day presenter took to his Instagram stories to directly address fans on Wednesday – and hint at a return to football broadcasting.

Jenas, 41, has been hit with multiple accusations of ‘inappropriate’ behaviours in recent months, including ‘sexting’ two coworkers and sexually pursuing a woman who reportedly told him she had a boyfriend.

In the selfie video, Jenas addressed the controversy to his 211,000 followers: ‘Hello you lot, obviously been missing for a while on the socials.’

He ended the video abruptly as his dog chose that moment to do his business: ‘It’s the timing. Like, I’m trying to say something important and he decides to take a s***. I’ll come back to you, I’ve got to pick this up.’

He then started a new video: ‘It’s clearly been a difficult period for me but one that I’ll definitely grow from. We’re human beings, that’s what it is.

‘You’ll learn from it. You’ll become a better person. Those are the things that are important in life.

‘None of us are perfect and we’ve just got to find a way to keep moving forward, look after our babies and our families in the best way we possibly can.

He thanked fans for their support as he navigated this difficult time, calling the scandal an ‘eye-opener.’

‘That’s something that I’ll be trying to do. Mainly [I wanted to say] thank you, really. It’s been really nice, the level of support you’ve shown me.

‘It’s been a nice eye-opener as well. I kind of lost connection with my followers along the way and it’s been nice to reconnect with a lot of you who’ve been kind enough to send me messages.

‘I’ve tried to get back to as many of you as I possibly can and I will continue to do so.’

Jenas then seemed to hint at possibly returning as a presenter, saying: ‘Listen, some exciting stuff that I’ve been working on, so you’ll all have that to look forward to very soon. Hopefully I’ll be back talking about what I love, which is football.

‘I’ve been living the life of those Spurs fans – up and down, up and down. Forest getting great results at Anfield and playing well.

‘So I’ve been watching, but I’m looking forward to getting back and talking about what I love most. So last of all, thank you very much and I’ll see you soon.’

This latest statement comes after Jenas previously spoke out about the allegations, telling The Sun: ‘I did nothing illegal – these were inappropriate messages between two consenting adults.

‘I am ashamed, and I am deeply sorry.

‘I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology – especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry.

‘I am sorry for what I have put them through.

‘I think it would be fair to say I have a problem. I know I self-sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.’

He continued to say he’d made ‘a lot of mistakes’ and has booked in for therapy to ‘try and address’ his ‘issues’ which were why he ended up ‘hurting the people [he] love[s]’.

‘I do consider it cheating, yes, although nothing physical ever happened,’ he added.

This followed news that Ellie Penfold– his wife of 13 years – had kicked him out of their bedroom in their £1,000,000 Hertfordshire home.
