John Travolta & His Daughter to Star in Upcoming Film Together

John Travolta and his daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, will share the screen in the upcoming survival thriller “Black Tides,” marking a meaningful next chapter for the father-daughter duo.

Ella, 25, joins her father in the film directed by Renny Harlin and scripted by Chris Sparling and Ángel Agudo, according to Deadline.

The story follows Travolta’s character, Bill Pierce, as he attempts to reconnect with his family on a sailing trip off the southern Spanish coast—only to face a harrowing attack by rogue orcas.

Ella has collaborated with her father before—appearing alongside him in “Old Dogs” (2009) and “The Poison Rose” (2019)—but this new project is a notable step up.

“The cast has bonded in a way that’s rare and powerful, and Renny’s directing chops are on full display — balancing raw spectacle with real human emotion,” producer Adrián Guerra told to outlet.

A Family Collaboration Rooted in Legacy

This father-daughter pairing holds special resonance given the family’s journey.

Ella is the daughter of Travolta and the late Kelly Preston, who died in 2020 after a battle with breast cancer.

Travolta shared a heartfelt message on Instagram in October celebrating Preston.

“I recorded this song for Kelly and I want to share it with you all on her birthday. Happy birthday Kelly, we love you. -John, Ella and Ben,” he wrote.

The “Grease” star frequently shares touching posts on anniversaries and birthdays of his late wife.

Ella Travolta Has Expressed How Much Her Dad Means to Her

Ella Travolta has previously opened up about how much she cares for and appreciates her famous father.

“He’s a complete role model for me and one of the biggest things also that he does is he’ll give me advice,” she told PEOPLE in October 2024. “The best advice that I’ve gotten obviously is from him, but he also really leaves it up to me, which I really appreciate.”

After Preston’s tragic passing, Ella Travolta released a song in memory of her mom. She told PEOPLE in September 2024 what it meant to her.

The song, “Little Bird,” featured previously unseen family footage.

“It had been a couple years, obviously, since my mom’s passing, so I could look at the whole situation and take a step back from it and see what I wanted to communicate on it and what I wanted to communicate to her and what I was feeling in general,” she told the outlet.
