Josh Duhamel is preparing for an end-of-the-world scenario and has been busy completing his “doomsday cabin” located in rural Minnesota.
Josh Duhamel Gives Details About His Cabin
The âRansom Canyonâ actor opened up about his cabin and his feelings surrounding an apocalypse in an interview with People on August 30. He revealed that he is working towards completing what he calls his “doomsday cabin,” and making it fully self-sufficient. Still, there are also skills he needs to learn and improve to ensure he is fully prepared, in case a scenario arises. “I could be a better hunter, I could be a better fisherman. I could stockpile a little more food supply,” he said.
Ten years ago, Duhamel bought a piece of land located an hour and a half by car from Fargo, North Dakota, People reports. The property had no basic amenities like water and electricity, but it appealed to the actor who wanted to get back to basics.
“I make movies and TV shows, and I love it, I truly do love it, but I had this calling,” he said. He revealed that the calling is “to go and really do things with my hands again â fix things, make things, and just do the basic things that we take for granted.” He also cherishes the time spent here with his family, and how life at the cabin provides a much-needed break away from technology.
Josh Duhamel Discusses His Preparations
But what exactly is Duhamel preparing for? He set the record straight in his interview. “The truth is, yes, people want to call it a doomsday prepper thing, but it’s really not that,” he said. “I’m really more of a guy who wants to stay true to my roots, get back to the basics, hone whatever basic skills I need.”
He continued, “I don’t think that we’re in any dire situation that we have to worry about prepping for doomsday, but it is good to have some of those skills. I was getting so far away from it for so long, that I felt like I wanted to get back to some of that.â
Duhamelâs social media gives a glimpse into his life, and he spends a lot of time with his family. He is married to Audra Mari, and the couple shares a 19-month-old son, Shepherd. Duhamel is also a father to Axl, whom he shares with his ex, singer Fergie. Photos show them embracing the outdoors, with pictures at a waterfall and photos of watersports and bicycles.
