<p id=”par-1_18″>Kate Gosselin’s public feud with her son is heating up ahead of the release of his tell-all memoir. </p>
<p id=”par-2_54″>In recent years, <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/collin-gosselin-slams-false-narrative-kate-plus-8.html/”>Collin Gosselin</a> has spoken out repeatedly about the abuse he says he experienced as a child at the hands of his now-estranged mother. He’s claimed that she zip-tied him and locked him in the basement, isolated him from his seven siblings, and had him institutionalized because of his alleged behavioral problems. </p>
<p id=”par-3_37″>Now, Collin is preparing to reveal more about his unusual childhood in his upcoming book, <em>In the Shadow of Eight. </em>However, Kate is telling her followers on social media that her child is not a reliable narrator. </p>

<p id=”par-4_38″>On June 30, the former <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/kate-gosselin-gets-real-giving-birth-sextuplets.html/”><em>Jon & Kate Plus 8</em></a><em> </em>star took to <a href=”https://www.tiktok.com/@kate.gosselin/video/7657182119365479711?lang=en” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>TikTok</a> to share an update on her rescue dog. In the comments, many people took the opportunity to weigh in on Collin’s recently announced book. </p>
<p id=”par-5_61″>One commenter said that she had been “constantly disparaged and lied about by her adult child with a skewed version of their childhood” and that her heart was with Kate as a result. “I’ve been dealing with it for years … Even though we know the truth and who we are, the hurt sneaks in once in a while,” she wrote. </p>
<p id=”par-6_22″>“Thank you! YOU understand!” Kate replied before asserting that other people should not judge her without walking a mile in her shoes. </p>
<p id=”par-7_33″>“Sadly, Only parents who have a mentally ill child understand!” the ex-reality star continued. “It’s so tough and I’m learning that [people] have NO ability to understand unless they’ve been through it themselves.”</p>
<p id=”par-8_38″>In the comments of an earlier <a href=”https://www.tiktok.com/@kate.gosselin/video/7656816880237301023?lang=en” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>TikTok</a> post, Kate replied to a person who suggested that she take Collin to court and sue him for defamation. She revealed that she had considered taking legal action against her child. </p>
<p id=”par-9_17″>“I can’t bc I’m a public figure,” she wrote. “Rules are different unfortunately. Or I def would!”</p>
<p id=”par-10_55″>“The rules are different for ppl in the public eye,” Kate added in another comment. “I consulted a high power LA attorney (you’ve definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that’s what he said. The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye :(.”</p>

<p id=”par-11_22″>Meanwhile, Collin has said that while his mother might have “mellowed out with age,” she is still the person she’s always been. </p>
<p id=”par-12_56″>“She still has the same ulterior motives … I think [people] are just buying right into what she’s doing, eating it up,” he said during a recent appearance on the <a href=”https://youtu.be/pMjtby2Zoys?si=3WFOKT676WDQosvH” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>StrangeMcKnights</a> podcast. “People just think she’s a completely different person. And it may be that on the outside. But we have to look on the inside.”</p>
