The outlet says a spokesperson told them, “There are no further details available at this time, and her family has asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness.”

The “Something’s Gotta Give” actress was popular amongst her peers, judging by the outpouring of loving posts her death on Saturday inspired. “Scandal” actress Kerry Washington was among the first group of entertainers to speak out, hitting her Instagram Stories to honor Keaton. The 48-year-old took a break from promoting the John Wick film “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” in which she stars with an ensemble cast that includes Mila Kunis, to honor Keaton with a poignant post.

Washington’s message read, “Rest in peace, Diane Keaton. Your talent, courage, and authenticity were a true inspiration.” She capped off the note with a red heart, and overlaid it with a black and white shot of the star that captured the essence of her electric personality. In it, the screen icon casually poses on a stool while grinning in her signature black-rimmed glasses.


What Movies Did Diane Keaton Win an Oscar For?

The Los Angeles native was nominated for the Academy Award for “Best Actress” an astounding four times, according to her IMDb profile. She clinched a win in 1978 for the famous Woody Allen project “Annie Hall,” beating out Jane Fonda, who was nominated for Fred Zinnemann’s “Julia.”

Keaton reacted to her win by saying, “I’m very honored to have been nominated with actors like Jane Fonda, and Shirley Maclaine, and Anne Bancroft, and Marsha Mason. This is something!”

She then talked about her love for the film, saying, “Annie Hall was a wonderful experience for me and I just would like to say ‘thanks’ to Woody.” The star then gestured towards the crowd and added, “And thank you! Thank you very much.”

Keaton was nominated once per decade for the next thirty years, receiving nods for her work in “Reds,” “Marvin’s Room,” and “Something’s Gotta Give.”

The Hollywood Reporter says Keaton is also remembered for playing “warm, off-center” mothers in “Father of the Bride” and “Baby Boom,” in which she showed off her knack for comedy.
