Kim Kardashian went somewhat incognito to this year’s Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend as she rocked up with a beige mask covering her whole head.
The Skims founder, 44, channelled her famous Met Gala catsuit look from 2021 on Saturday evening, as she posed for photos in a Maison Margiela gown, with no features visible under her face cover.
The outfit, which brought Halloween vibes, also sported a tight-fitted corset top and dramatic arm sleeves attached to the skirt, which gave the dress an almighty edge, as if her headwear wasn’t enough of a statement.
Kim’s fabric head floated op top of a serious three-tiered necklace, encrusted with gems and gothic dangling shapes.
‘Honestly I flew in my favourite makeup artist Mario from New York and this is kind of a lastminute thing, so I’m sure he’s not so happy with it,’ Kim told Variety on the red carpet when asked about the look.
‘Full hair and makeup for this,’ she confirmed, adding: ‘I will probably take it off upstairs to eat.’

Sister Kendall Jenner – who is tipped to be the next Bond girl – also attended the event, but in a much more understated simple black dress, as she smiled and posed with friend Hailey Bieber, in an interesting corseted brown number.
Fans weren’t convinced by Kim’s bold look, as @arianaswhip said on X: ‘This might be the worst look I’ve ever seen in my entire life.’
‘I’m genuinely so confused,’ added @89_New_Romantic.
Kim’s appearance comes during a time when her personal life is under the microscope even more than usual, with her explosive Call Her Daddy interview last week, and the recent release of documentary Whose Name? about her ex-husband Kanye West.

During the podcast episode Kim opened up about their nine-year relationship, from which they welcomed three children: North, 12, Saint, 9, and Chicago, 7.
‘When someone has like their first mental break, you want to be super supportive and you want to help figure that out and be there for them,’ she explained of her husband, who has hit headlines over the past few years for his erratic and controversial behaviour.
‘But when someone isn’t willing to make changes that I think would’ve been super healthy and beneficial, it makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic,’ she explained.

While sharing children made it more difficult for Kim to make the decision to pull the plug on their relationship, she realised she had to do it for everyone’s sake.
‘I had to save myself in order to be a better mum for everyone. And I think when everyone’s older they’ll be able to understand it and see that all,’ she said.
Elsewhere on Call Her Daddy, Kim discussed her controversial photoshoot with a 16-year-old Justin Bieber, which she admits in hindsight was ‘inappropriate’.
The photoshoot for Elle Magazine saw teenage Justin and a 29-year-old Kim romping around playfully and suggestively on the beach, inspired by the 1967 movie The Graduate, in which a young man is seduced by a much older married woman.
The TV star said: ‘I think I’m gonna get canceled if I say it. Like, I don’t know who approved this, and I don’t know who thought that this was normal, this narrative. But I did a photo shoot with Justin Bieber, and he was 16 years old. And I don’t know how old I was.’
She added: ‘Nothing ever weird was obviously happening, and like, I just think that was like an odd concept and why none of us thought that that was odd at the time. But now we look back and I’m like, that would have not been the most appropriate thing.’
