Lady Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky have welcomed a baby girl, with newly released birth records revealing her name and the touching family meaning behind it.
The Poker Face star and tech entrepreneur Michael became first-time parents earlier this summer, with their daughter born in Los Angeles on June 9.
According to a birth certificate obtained by TMZ , the couple have named their daughter Rose Bean Polansky.
The document also confirms the baby was born at 11.19pm at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where many high-profile celebrities have welcomed their children.
The couple have yet to publicly comment on their daughter’s birth, but the baby’s first name appears to carry a deeply personal significance for Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.
Rose was also the middle name of Gaga’s late maternal grandmother, Veronica Rose ‘Ronnie’ Ferrie Bissett, who has long been an important figure in the singer’s life.
Fans may also recognise the name from Gaga’s own body art, with the words La Vie En Rose tattooed down her spine in tribute to the iconic French song she performed in A Star Is Born.
The birth certificate also reveals the baby was delivered by Dr Robert Katz, an obstetrician who has previously delivered the daughter of singer Ciara and NFL star Russell Wilson.
News that Gaga had become a mum emerged last week after months of speculation over her unusually low public profile.
The singer had largely disappeared from public view after finishing her Mayhem Ball tour in April, with her last known public appearance coming during a chance fan encounter in Northern California in August.
Photos later published by Page Six showed Gaga and Michael out together with their newborn daughter.
The couple have been together since 2019 after first meeting at a birthday party for tech entrepreneur Sean Parker, and got engaged in April 2024.
The singer has spoken openly over the past year about wanting to become a mother, describing it as the next chapter of her life.
During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in October, Gaga said motherhood was her ‘next starring role’.
‘I would like to do many things, yeah, all of these things,’ she said. ‘But what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.’
The couple have also hinted that wedding plans are well underway.
Earlier this year, Gaga revealed she and Polansky were planning to marry after spending much of the year travelling together, while she previously joked to Jimmy Kimmel that they had even considered eloping to a courthouse before celebrating with Chinese food.
Speaking to Stephen Colbert, Gaga described Polansky as her ‘best friend in the whole world’.
‘He empowered me as a woman in music with a beautiful partner that has my back every day,’ she said. ‘He just blew me away from the minute that I met him.’
