Laura Dern’s Fans Share Their Heartbreak & Loving Tributes After Her Devastating Loss

Laura Dern is mourning the loss of her beloved mother, actress Diane Ladd. Ladd died on November 3. She was 89.

Dern’s loss is felt by many who loved Ladd and are heartbroken to learn of her passing. Although Dern has not yet posted a tribute to her mother on social media, fans have flocked to her Instagram account, leaving heartfelt messages on her last post. 

Fans Show Support For Laura Dern 

Dern’s last Instagram post, from October 25, shows her looking gorgeous in a red dress as she attends an event for InStyle magazine. She was honored as the Woman of Impact for 2025. The comment section has been flooded with new messages from fans. 

“Dear Laura, I am heartbroken to learn about the passing of your legendary mother. My thoughts are with you. She was wonderful on screen,” a comment reads. “Deeply sorry for your loss. What a treasure to our world and contribution to our industry,” a second person shared. “We celebrate your mother today and always. Sending so much love to you and your family.”

A third fan also left a heartbroken comment. “Hi Laura I just heard the news of the passing of your mother. I always remember how kind she was to Pia and myself,” they wrote. “She was such a wonderful soul. We shared many good times. Sending you love and a great big hug. May she rest with the angels now. 

Other reactions include “I’m so very sorry about the loss of your Dear Mother. She is an Amazing Actor!,” and “Laura, sending my deepest condolences about your mom. I was just walking down Hollywood Boulevard and saw all your names altogether you your mom and your dad and I just wanna send you my love OK and I’m letting you know I’m here for you and sending you prayers. Stay strong.”

Dern has made a statement about the loss of her mother. She shared her thoughts in a heartfelt statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist, and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created,” she said. “We were blessed to have her. She is flying with her angels now.”

Ladd leaves behind an incredible portfolio of work, including her performances in “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore,” “Wild at Heart,” and “Rambling Rose,” all of which she was nominated for an Academy Award. Ladd will be missed tremendously, not just for who she was but also for her impact on the entertainment industry.
