Molly-Mae Hague has spoken about being ‘severely humbled’ by the response to her outfit at Venezuela Fury’s wedding to Noah Price earlier this month.
The Fury clan threw a lavish bash for the teenage newlyweds, who tied the knot at the Victorian Royal Chapel of St John’s on the Isle of Man, where marriage is legal at 16.
Among the 120 attendees for the wedding were a heavily pregnant Hague and her three-year-old daughter Bambi, who had been asked to be a bridesmaid.
But in a new YouTube vlog, Hague, 27, said she hadn’t anticipated the blowback she would get for wearing black to the wedding and attending with the brown roots in her hair on show.
‘I got severely humbled in the comments,’ said the former Love Island star while speaking to the camera in her car.
‘Which, to be fair I don’t know why I didn’t expect, because the whole time I was saying to myself, if I do go and I haven’t given birth by then, I was like, I don’t care what I look like.’
Hague went on to explain that she wanted to ‘honour’ Bambi being asked to be a bridesmaid and make an appearance for her partner Tommy Fury’s family, adding: ‘Obviously if you can, that’s what you do.’
Referring to her black jumpsuit with a bodice cut-out, Hague said: ‘I actually did put a bit of thought into it. I did get that jumpsuit tailored and everything.
‘But the hair, I actually had my hair done in the morning. I had this really gorgeous bun but I ended up taking the bun out and just slicking my own bun back. You can see my hair bobble, my roots.’
Showing her hair to the camera, Hague continued: ‘My hair is a whole different conversation at the minute. What I am going to do about my hair, I don’t know. It’s grown out so much, to the point where, do I just accept that I might have to go to being a brunette? Surely not.’
Hague continued: ‘I did have a bit of a spiral yesterday morning. I just don’t know why I didn’t think that… I should have thought there’s probably going to be pictures and videos that will come out.
‘In my head I was just thinking about the wedding and obviously it’s their day. It’s about them.’
However, she said she was very glad she and Bambi attended, because her daughter was in her element there.
‘It was such a nice day and I fear that Bambi will never ever get over it. I think she genuinely thought she was in a dream.’
Hague then returned to the criticism over her outfit, questioning: ‘Since when is it not acceptable to wear black to a wedding? I genuinely never thought that.
‘I saw the comments saying “I can’t believe she wore black”. I didn’t know you couldn’t wear black to a wedding.
‘I know technically it’s more of a funeral colour but I just think, as long as it’s not white and it’s smart.’
