A legendary musician is the latest star to have his Los Angeles home broken into – with a man arrested after attempting to rob the legendary performer.
Early on Saturday morning Lionel Richie – best known for hits including Easy, All Night Long and Hello – was at home when an intruder tried to gain access to his home.
It’s been reported by TMZ that a Beverly Hills Police Department source confirmed that the 76 year old’s home was targeted by a suspected thief.
‘Officers received a radio call regarding a residential burglary just after midnight in the 90210 neighbourhood, where the famed singer-songwriter owns a property,’ the publication reported.
‘Richie was reportedly home at the time of the alleged burglary, but the suspected perp was scared off by the Grammy winner’s security alarm and left the home without taking anything.’
A man was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, however the The District Attorney, is yet to formally file a charge. The investigation is still being classified as ‘ongoing’.

The publication went on to add that: ‘Investigators are looking into security footage and other evidence from the scene.’
The break-in at Richie’s home comes after months of stars living in LA have had their homes targeted by thieves.
In June, Brad Pitt’s $5.5million (£4million) home in the Los Feliz neighbourhood was burgled, which happened when he was in Japan promoting his movie F1.
Last week, police gave an update in the investigation, revealing they’d arrested three people who had also allegedly been linked to another burglary.
However, police told NBC LA that the suspects didn’t appear to be specifically targeting famous people.

Late last month, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp revealed her home had been targeted too – but that a security alarm that had been installed by her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave’s security company – had managed to scare the thieves away.
Soon after she shared security camera footage which showed a group of men climbing over a fence and going around the side of her house in an attempt to gain entrance, before frantically running away once the security system was set off and began blaring.
Earlier this year, in February, Nicola Kidman and Keith Urban’s Beverly Hills mansion was also targeted.
Although an intruder reportedly smashed a window to gain entrance, an employee of the couple was on the property at the time and was able to successfully them away.
Another unsettling burglary happened around the same time – with Austin Butler’s home broken into.
The actor had been out of the country when his security team discovered that a glass door in his home had been shattered.

TMZ reported that a security guard found the place had been left in a state of disrepair after an apparent ransacking, and that several items were reported missing, including a gun and money.
According to NBC, LA’s Police Chief stated in March that the number of burglaries reported in LA in 2024 increased by 4%.
‘These are happening very quickly,’ Chief Dominic Choi told the Board of Police Commissioners about the uptick in robberies.
‘We’re not seeing the entire house being ransacked,’ he added.
