‘NCIS’ Alum Pauley Perrette Shows Off Tattoos and Messy Bun in Rare Outing

Pauley Perrette is showing off a new side of herself far from the forensic lab. The former “NCIS” star, best known for her role as Abby Sciuto, was recently spotted in Los Angeles looking laid-back and happy—seven years after saying goodbye to the long-running CBS drama.

Perrette, 56, left “NCIS” in 2018 after a 15-year run that made her one of the show’s most recognizable faces. Since then, she has led a quiet life away from Hollywood, stepping out only for the occasional red-carpet appearance.

Pauley Perrette Trades Abby Sciuto’s Pigtails For Casual Style

In new photos obtained by The U.S. Sun on September 9, Perrette was seen running errands near her home in Los Angeles. The actress, known for her signature black pigtails and lab coat on “NCIS”, has swapped her iconic look for a messy bun featuring blonde and faded red tones.

The star went makeup-free as she maneuvered her Volvo out of a tricky driveway, sporting a white T-shirt, sweatpants, and boots. Later in the day, she switched into a Yungblud shirt, jeans, a baseball cap, and sneakers while taking her dog to the vet. Her collection of arm tattoos was on full display.

Perrette’s casual outing is a far cry from her on-screen goth persona but reflects the “authentic” lifestyle she says she values now. “I want to be me all the time, and it takes a good amount of courage for me to say that to myself but it’s authentically how I feel,” she told Hello in 2024.

Life After ‘NCIS’: Retirement, Red Carpets, And Controversy

Since leaving “NCIS”, Perrette’s first project was the CBS sitcom “Broke,” which aired in 2020 but was canceled after just one season. After that, she officially retired, telling fans in a 2020 post on X, “I’m HAPPILY RETIRED! Finally! Woot! All I ever wanted!”

While Perrette’s exit from “NCIS” was marred by tension with co-star Mark Harmon, she has since focused on positive projects and personal peace. Executive producer Charles Floyd Johnson later explained in The Hollywood Reporter that a dog owned by Harmon sparked the conflict, ultimately contributing to her decision to walk away.

Still, Perrette has enjoyed making rare but colorful red carpet appearances, most recently at the October 2024 screening of “Studio One Forever” in West Hollywood.
