A Nintendo Direct is officially happening this week, dedicated to games for both Switch 2 and the original Switch.
After several insiders claimed Nintendo’s next big showcase would take place this week, the company has made it official.
As announced across Nintendo’s social media channels, the next Nintendo Direct will take place on Tuesday, June 9 at 3pm BST in the UK.
According to a post on X, the presentation will span ‘around 50 minutes’ and focus on ‘games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch this year’. The stream will be available on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
While that seems to rule out Pokémon Winds and Waves, which is slated for 2027, it means we’ll likely get new looks at Star Fox, Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Rhythm Paradise Groove, and The Duskbloods 0 assuming the latter hasn’t been delayed.
The big question is whether we’ll see a reveal for the rumoured The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time remake, which is believed to be Nintendo’s big Christmas game for the Switch 2 this year.

Crucially, this is the first major Nintendo Direct, including first party games, since September last year. Since then, we’ve had presentations for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Pokémon, Kirby Air Riders, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, Partner Showcases for third party titles, and Indie World presentations, but no reveals of any major new first party games.
This raises expectations to an obscene degree for tomorrow’s presentation, but there’s a lot of unanswered questions around Nintendo’s Christmas line-up. If the Zelda remake rumours are false then Nintendo still needs something (and ideally two or three things) for this autumn.
Additionally, we only know about Pokémon Winds and Waves for next year, so this might be the time to plant some seeds for the Switch 2’s line-up in 2027.
This Direct comes after Nintendo announced an impending price increase for the Switch 2. It’s unclear what the console’s new price will be in the UK, but it’s set to come into effect from September 1, 2026.
When the price increase was first announced Nintendo boss Shuntaro Furukawa said that, ‘We will prepare a robust software line-up to enhance the Switch 2 ownership value’ – as if acknowledging the empty release schedules and the lack of major releases so far this year.
