âDaddyâ energy was on full display this weekend in New York City, but one dad truly reigned supreme. Heâs got the curls, the charm, and a lighting director credit on “The Daily Show“.

George Gountas, a Brooklyn father, walked away with the crown â and a yearâs worth of free burritos â after winning a Pedro Pascal look-alike contest held on Fatherâs Day in the Lower East Side.
Hosted by Son Del North, a Mexican eatery, the contest drew over two dozen hopefuls and a crowd filled with Grogu plushies and handmade signs. But it was Gountas, encouraged by his wife and family to attend, who stole the show.
âItâs your Fatherâs Day treat.â
His wife, Jenny Gania, knew it was meant to be. âWhen we saw this [contest], I was like, âItâs Fatherâs Day. You have to go. Itâs going to be your Fatherâs Day treat,â she told the New York Post.
The resemblance? Uncanny â and itâs been a running joke since Pascalâs days as Oberyn Martell on “Game of Thrones”. âEven kids started pointing it out,â Gania said.
Gountas, who doesnât have social media, may be the last person to capitalize on a viral moment â but he just became NYCâs most loved Pedro doppelgänger overnight.
Dad Has A Hollywood Connection of His Own
It turns out that Gountas shares more than looks with the real Pascal. Heâs also been behind the scenes of your favorite comedy specials.
According to Deadline, Gountas has worked as a lighting director for “The Daily Show”, having lit the stages for Trevor Noah, Ramy Youssef, Pete Davidson, and Chris Rock. His IMDb page speaks for itself.
Double Victory: Burritos and Bragging Rights
The contest was the brainchild of chef Annisha Garcia, co-owner of Son Del North, who organized the event after Pascal joked on Hot Ones last year that New York had no âgood Mexican food.â
âIâm like, âSo sorry, but thereâs no good Mexican food in New York?ââ Garcia told the Post. âAnd we were like, âThere is, and we are here.ââ
A Trend of Celebrity Look-Alike Contests
Gountas now joins an unofficial global club of celebrity look-alikes making headlines. It all started with the Timothée Chalamet doppelgänger showdown in Washington Square Park, which Chalamet himself crashed.
Glen Powell, Paul Mescal, and even Harry Styles have since inspired their own double-themed events.
Chalamet took his contest a step further, featuring his look-alikes in an SNL promo. Powell, not to be outdone, gave the winner of his contest a movie cameo.
And now? With Gountasâ win turning heads, maybe Pedro Pascal will follow suit.
