Oasis fans shouldn’t give up on Glastonbury 2027 headline slot just yet

Following Oasis’ newly announced tour for 2027, it’s easy to forget just how far we have come.

Liam and Noel Gallagher sent fans into dreamland in 2024 after announcing the Oasis reunion ahead of their unforgettable tour last year.

But following the release of their upcoming tour dates for next year, many fans started to realise how unlikely it will be for Oasis to play at Glastonbury Festival next year.

Despite our gratitude at seeing the Gallagher brothers perform once again, when it seemed like such a distant reality not so long ago, the thought of seeing them headline Glastonbury is almost too much to comprehend.

Now, however, it appears like it could be a reality after fans spotted a suspicious-looking gap in their schedule.

Eagle-eyed observers have spotted that there is a break on June 27, which would allow the band to not only perform at Glastonbury, but potentially close the festival.

Liam has previously played down the prospect of Oasis headlining Glastonbury again, following performances in 1994, 1995 and 2004.

Their 2004 set was certainly not a high point, with Liam later admitting he ‘hated that gig’.

He blamed the band’s in-ear monitors for damaging the connection between Oasis and the crowd.

So, while Glastonbury remains up in the air, what we do know is that Liam and Noel will reunite for a huge 38-date tour across the UK, Europe and the US.

The mammoth run includes five nights at Celtic Park in Glasgow, two at Slane Castle in Dublin and four shows at Knebworth, where Oasis famously performed their historic gigs in 1996.

They will also play dates in Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Boston and Las Vegas, alongside a huge run of shows at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium in June.

Announcing their new tour, the band said on Monday: ‘START THE CELEBRATIONS!!!! After a period of reflection ‘the most damaging pop cultural force in recent British history’ has declared itself fit for purpose and will once again return to lift the spirits of the people.

‘Come witness the fitness. It shall be a sight to behold.’

Glastonbury tickets, meanwhile, are set to go on sale in October, with Harry Styles, Fontaines DC and Sam Fender among those being rumoured to perform.

Stevie Wonder and Robbie Williams have also reportedly been linked with the Sunday afternoon Legends slot.
