The messy red state hit The Hunting Wives has officially been renewed for a second season on Netflix.

But, in terrible news for us across the pond, there’s still no update for fans on when UK viewers might get a peak at the Texas drama.

Both Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman are set to return for their roles as liberal newcomer Sophie and queen bee Margo – who are embroiled in a torrid affair in the soapy drama.

However, things take a turn when all the heavy drinking and gun-toting lead to a dead body one night. Suspicions abound, with Sophie and Margo soon pointing fingers.

Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by May Cobb, the show amassed over 20 million views in its first five weeks on the streamer, despite only being available in English. With sex scenes aplenty, viewers have hailed the show as ‘outrageous’ and ‘bonkers’ in equal measure

So it’s perhaps no surprise that the head honchos at Netflix HQ have decided to return to God’s country for a second season of the sapphic Republican chaos.

No spoilers, but the second season will be a continuation of the storyline, with executive producer Rebecca Cutter saying: ‘I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.’

Meanwhile, the season two logline teases: ‘Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together.

‘As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?’

According to the renewal announcement the second season ‘will release exclusively as a Netflix branded series in nearly all countries Netflix is available, with the original cast set to reprise their roles.’

So at least next time around UK viewers won’t have to wait too long, since the show will launch globally on Netflix. But for the first season, we still don’t have a release date in Blighty – beyond the assurance it will be here ‘soon’, according to Deadline.
